you have to pick, you either have to spend 60% of your FA money on a backup QB to spurr competition and leave other holes unplugged. Or you go cheap on a BACKUP and find reasonable role players to fill your holes.

Its one way or the other, not both. Jets are being sense able they realize if Sanchez goes down, they are fucked anyways, so might as well go skimpy on the back up and plug the holes in your starting lineup as best you can.

This idea will probably get destroyed, but what do you guys think of Brady Quinn?

I'm pretty sure he's a FA this year, and I feel like he never got a real chance in Denver with the allure of Tim Tebow in front of him. He could potential provide good "competition" for Sanchez and push him. He was a highly touted prospect and hasn't been able to fully play to his potential

Makes no sense..he will never play so why not use one of those comp picks and draft a backup QB..it's not like the Jets worry about starting rookie QBs.

Been wanting Quinn for a while. He didn't even get that much of a fair shake in Cleveland honestly. I thought he'd be a Carson Palmer clone in the league and while I don't think he has that ability now, I do think he can play as a serviceable backup in NY. He has that pretty boy attitude about him though(Which they may not want given Sanchez has that) and Stanton has more starts under his belt which I guess may be the factor. Stanton's nothing special, he's most known to Jet fans for failing at the end of the Jets/Lions game of 2 years ago when he came in relief for Stafford. He's really a No.3 QB more than anything so hopefully McElroy can shine and be that backup No.2.

I think as at least a backup, Quinn can be a good option on the cheap. Likewise, Sanchez girl has (some) competition if we do sign with Quinn as he's dating Alicia Sacramone :)

I don't know why Stanton would leave DET though given Stafford's there and all. I am guessing the Lions said to leave maybe? It just seems like such an ideal spot for a backup QB to be in.

    Sweet avatar BTW. :)

Stanton was the #3 in Detroit.

He wanted to go somewhere where he had the chance to see the field more.

Unspectacular player, tends to get dinged up quite a bit.

    Decent #2

To be fair Shaun Hill tends to get hurt quite a bit. Forgot about Hill, thought he was on another team.

    It was Henson.

Same guy that split time with Brady at Michigan.

Wonder what that guy is doing now?

Quinn has 12 starts to his name, whereas Drew Stanton only has 4. So I don't even get that argument.

Only time will tell, hopefully we find a good backup to push Sanchez and take some snaps if necessary. If Drew Stanton is able to do that well, awesome. If Quinn is the guy, I hope he's here and not elsewhere

AH wow so little for Stanton...I thought he may have had more.

I'd prefer Quinn though. Quinn trumped Stanton in that epic ND/MSU 06 game at East Lansing. :metal:

  14. Jason Campbell is officially a Bear. I really don't even see the point in signing Stanton unless he is willing to play for the minimum. There is no chance that Sanchez gets benched unless he throws 4 INT a game for the first 8 games.

If he didn't miss the season last year that may have been the direction the Jets went in. But, I think Stanton would be okay as a no. 2. I'd rather have Quinn though.

we just signed Sanchez to an extension. he has no shot at starting here either so that certainly isn't a difference.

That may be the best signing they could have made this season. Cutler is their quarterhorse, but he comes up lame way too often. Think Feely and McNabb, minus the heart-crushing loss to a cheater team in the Super Bowl.

Cross Jason Campbell off everybody list he signed with the Bears. The Bears are super aggressive early on. Come on Tanny get in the game.

Matt Leinart Is the best option for the Jets for a Back up Quarter back. Not good enough to want him to displace Sanchez, but good enough that I wouldn't mind or be afraid if he filled in if Mark got hurt.
