I think Revis is more of a lead by example sort of guy. He's not flashy, he doesn't talk a whole lot of shit, and he studies his ass off. He's a goofball but noone ever said a leader couldn't have a personality. Curtis Martin was another leader who led by example.
If the Jets defense sucks next year, it wont have anything to do with what Skrines said. Its far more likely they're bad due to his play than his words.
"Lead by example" is kind of a pet peeve of mine. What's the difference between "Lead by example" and "look out for yourself"? It's basically doing your job and letting the real leaders use you as an example of how to do the job the right way. I loved Curtis but he is another example of a great Jets player that wasn't a leader.
Ah, that means every captain in NFL is a scumbag. You make a lot of sense today. That comparison is beyond stupid if that even exists.
Well he could also be referring to a really bad comedy called the Dream Team with Michael Keaton. Look at it that way.
We have a clear definition for the word leadership. If somebody got brain washed into thinking yelling at your team mates, cussing around on camera makes a person a great leader then that's something they have to figure out. There's no inbetween.
Disagree. Leadership takes on many forms and roles within a team, and locker room. Often we are not privy to everything that goes on on the inside. Sometimes the loudest or most visible guy isn't the real leader. The period before Darrelle tore his ACL he was definitely a leader, especially with the DB's. Cromartie credited Darrelle often that year as making him a better, more mature player, teaching him how to be a pro, and a leader. Cro had his best year that year as a pro and gave all the credit to Revis. Cro is a team leader now. Rex said himself that it was Revis who went to him and told him to stop with the predictions and declarations leading up to the Giant game in 2011. He told Rex it was putting to much pressure on everybody and had become a distraction to the team. It had become counter productive. Feel the same way about Curtis, and cite Mangold as a similar type to Darrelle, and Curtis. They don't like attention, and maybe they don't like to dictate to people, but, inside the locker room they say what is needed to be said.
I disagree. People interpret things as they will. It doesn't mean they are right but yet it is still done. Leadership is easily a quantity in which a grey area can be argued. Sent from my SM-G386T using Tapatalk

Disagree 100% but give an example. Let's say you disagree with me on Revis for arguments sake. Why do you disagree? What makes you think he's not a leader? What is this gray area?
I think Revis is a leader. Just not the sort of leader that can be equated to a general leading a charge on a battlefield. He's not Drew Brees. I see him as more like Curtis Martin. I believe Curtis was a leader too. Charlie disagrees. Sent from my SM-G386T using Tapatalk
