I like Dre Bly a lot. He's the type of player who is all over the field and always seems to involved on every play. That being said, he does not have a nose for the ball and never gets INTs. But, for the right price, I would love to see the Jets get him.
i've had to watch almost every lions game the last 3 years (brother in law)...i think it is tough to judge bly, mainly b/c the lions defense is terrible i think he would still be a big upgrade to the #2 spot...however, i think the teams that would show the most interest would be a team looking for a #1 corner....or a team as open with money/picks as washington. i think bly will go to the team misses out on clements and samuel....which hopefully/probably means the jets/redskins wont be involved
from the article...it would be 5 mil for the 1st year and then he is an FA basically, most teams would give him a extension/new contract...so that # could/would change the only thing recently i've seen where a player didnt get an extension/contract was stallworth in philly heck even bollinger got a deal
I'd take Bly for cheap....he's better then Poteat or any of the other guys we had starting opposite Dyson. I would still rather make a move for Samuel or Clement.
You might want to look at his numbers. Career wise, he's done a decent job of getting INT's getting 33 in his 8 year career, but he does turn 30 this year and again, he likes to free lance. that will never fly in Mangini's system. He tends to break out of his assignments and the safeties have to cover his butt, the way they had to with Law. That's why he's all over the field.... and he never did adapt to playing the cover 2 in Detroit, which is why they want to dump him. He's a man cover CB, and doesn't like to play in a scheme. That makes him a bad fit for the Jets too.
http://www.nfl.com/combine/story/10023456 Dre' Bly could soon be in another city, with the Lions looking to deal. The story out of Detroit is that the Lions are willing to part with cornerback Dre' Bly, and it should not take a first-round pick ... or maybe not even a second-round pick. From what I could gather, the best landing spot for Bly is Denver for possibly a third-round pick and a player or two. Detroit has a number of needs, and the Denver roster has a few guys who could help them. The sad and sudden death of running back Damien Nash will probably put the trade talks on hold for the time being though. Would he be right for us , if we could get him for our 2nd 2nd rounder or 3 I say yes , its good value.
i think he has value for our 3rd...but denver has two 3rds and lots of extra young talent to deal if denver wants him they get him...
