It's actually easier to grade because you only have to evaluate three players instead of seven.

Exactly right..the last really good QB the Jets had was O'Brien who was drafted in the 1st. The argument can also be made for Pennington, another 1st. Who is the last QB drafted after the first that ever meant squat to the Jets?

Was an "A" after the 1st round but went down hill after that.

I gave a "B", and if we start KC and not Sanchez it will be a "C"

Also you have to factor in that we got Lito Shepherd for a 5th rounder. So we definetley filled a need on defense by getting a pro bowl corner opposite of Revis. I am sick of all the doom and gloom guys, and I think these same people will sing a different tune 1 year from today.

My grade did not factor in the Lito Shepard trade. If I had the grade would have been higher but it was not a draft day trade.

I'd give it an F only because we didn't address our biggest needs and both our picks were 1 year wonders.
The OL we took i know nothing about.

If Sanchez turns out to be the real deal it goes from an F to an A+.

So is a draft with 10 or 12 players...there is no strength in numbers in the NFL.

    Sanchez A+
    Shonn Greene B+
    Slauson B+

Solid picks for the direction the jets are going.

At the end of the day...you have a 53 man roster...If you draft 12 players, are they all making the team?

I bet all 4 of ours make the 53 man roster...The Pats spent YEARS building their roster..now they draft primarily for depth.

But they've had no QB turnover..No change in defensive scheme....We're a year away from drafting primarily for depth.

    A. Too many WR in Free Agency to piss away picks on one.

    A.

...and by "A" I mean, "grading a draft before it's over is stupid."

    C -

I like the picks. Not a fan of the 2nd trade (4th and 7th to move up 11? spots in the 3rd). Considering it was widely seen as a weak draft at least Tanny identified who he wanted and was aggressive. Overall, too few picks and the 1st trade cost our team depth.

    C.

The move for Sanchez was a good one (A), and I was thinking all the JAGs could be replaced with their draft picks. Then they used 3 picks on Green (who I think is a good fit for the JETS) instead of addressing team depth, or a myriad of positions/holes.

If Sanchez pans out, then the grade increases dramatically

I want to know who the WR and TE will be, before I answer this question. I think the Sanchez pick was huge and necessary to fill the hole at QB, but I'm concerned about the other blaring holes on offense.

Someone mentioned Plaxico. That would solve the WR. And I'm sure there is a blocking TE somewhere for the Jets.

If those things could happen, while still keeping Thomas Jones at RB, I'll give this draft a high grade.

Seems people always need to be reminded of this...the Jets don't like Clemens..they haven't liked him since he had his shot in '07..there was no way he was going to QB this team..he couldn't win the job last year and that is why they spent 12 million on Favre for one year..he wasn't going to be given the chance this year despite what they may have been saying..that is why they went after Cutler and that is why they would have gone after Quinn or Anderson or anybody else they could trade for this year...so really the question is would you prefer they traded up for Sanchez or stay pat and take Freeman, because that was the only two choices...they were coming out of this draft with a QB one way or another and there was never a doubt about it.

It could be that the Jets management did not like any of the choices in this draft. Maybe they know of players that are better or equal sitting out in the free agent rookie class. Maybe that's where the depth is going to come from. With regard to his track record, I think Tanny knows what he's doing.

i certainly love the players we got

i just think it's unfortunate we only got 3 players when we surely needed more

I gave them a B. I'm not going to pretend to know who the Offensive Guard we drafted is. I like the Sanchez and Green picks. We only made 3 selections but I think 2 of them could be great for us. Quantity doesnt equal quality.
