I agree with all of this 100%, except for you comments on Floyd. I'm a Notre Dame fan, and all I've heard about Floyd is that he's a stand-up kid. I know he has had some alcohol related offenses in the past, including a DUI, but all indications seem to show that he has cleaned up his partying... at least enough to stay out of trouble. He actually lived in a freshman dorm last year to prove his demeanor had changed (I'm assuming it was co-ed  )

If these comments are true, you would have to think that narrows down our first selection to WR, T, and DL... Floyd, Wright, Jeffery, Martin, Glenn, Brockers, Reyes, Cox, Branch, Mercilus are the possibilities coming to mind.

I'd love to get Decastro in the first. There should be a couple guys that would improve the pass rush in the 2nd and 3rd round.

DD is probably wishful thinking at this point. He's clearly better than most of the T prospects, so you have to figure at least one team ahead of us with O-Line problems would pull the trigger (KC, AZ, DAL, to name a few)

I don't think there will be a OLB @ 16 who's clearly the BPA. That said it's a very important position for us so I would be ok with not going for the BPA but for the best available OLB...

    Hope that made sense.

DeCastro, methinks. Two guards on the last year of their contracts, a position that rarely busts, seems like a good idea to me

    Can anyone say smoke screens?

I really hope people arent buying this because its a load of crap.

At this point they have said they wont draft an OLman in the early round (which I think has some validity to it), that they dont have interest in a WR in the 1st round and now they wont draft a passrusher until the 5th... Punter in the 1st?

  9. Thinking long term I say go either Barron or Decastro. Both are plus players at positions that fill a need & don't come around everyday.

Decastro might be the best guard prospect since Hutchinson. Hell he might be BETTER than Hutchinson.

Barron is PERFECT for the what the Jets need to pair w/ Landry. He's big, rangy, physical & can make plays. There just aren't alot of safeties like this in the NFL as evident by free agency

Look, im not by any stretch saying we should take Barron with the 16th pick. But, people seem to forget or not know, that Barron did play some FS at Alabama.

I don't want the Jets to get Upshaw anyway. If Floyd or a good OL to kick Hunter's ass off the starting roster.

All I got out of it was "Jets are unlikely to take Upshaw, but still could take Upshaw"

Thats less of a smokescreen to me, and just someone peddling bullshit to grab readers

DeCastro played RG at Stanford. The odds are pretty good that he'd replace Brandon Moore with Slauson getting another season at LG. Scouts think DeCastro can transition to LG in the NFL but they also think he's a natural run-blocking RG with the potential to be an All-Pro there in short order.

Moore is getting to the point where the Jets are going to have to replace him fairly soon. This could be a "better a year early than a year late" situation.

Of course it's the Jets so who knows what they would do in this situation if it arose.

I think this is our hope honestly, and we may look to trade down if he isn't there. Right now Floyd to Buffalo is gaining steam after they signed Super Mario and Mark Anderson to huge and big deals, respectively. I love Andre Branch as a strong side OLB who can play weak side his first year while we still have Calvin Pace, but #16 is too high for him.

Stephen Hill has a lot of upside, but not in our offense. Too early for Alshon who is working out on Wednesday with Jets. Reuben Randle could be the pick, could have vied to be a Top 10 pick next year but chose to leave early -- still too early for my taste.

I also wouldn't rule out a CB like Dre Kirkpatrick or Stephon Gilmore, and then we move Cromartie to FS to pair with Landry at SS. I think Dre and Gilmore are better prospects than Barron, so it's the same as drafting a safety.

Yes, I read that also. I'm very glad for his sake he cleaned up his act, but I wonder how much is legit since it was only just before or during his senior season. While its possible he did grow up this year, I'm leery. If the Jets didn't have Holmes and a few other problem children, then I'd be in for Holmes. I hope I'm wrong and that he isn't a ticking bomb.
