Apologies. Didn't mean it to sound like it came from you. The fact that he's a free agent makes it easy for the Jets to move on from him, and that would be a mistake, is what I meant to say.

No problem. No offense taken. I agree that it would be a mistake to move on from Powell.

Unless Powell wants to give us a home town discount I think we should go in for Lamar Miller and draft a rookie to back him up.

In terms of pure talent, sure, but the HC and GM have to take other things into consideration as well. Is Powell a popular player? If so, will it cause problems with morale or attitude in the locker room? Is Powell a respected leader? How about Miller? Is he liked by his Dolphin teammates or thought of as a jerk? One of the reasons the Jets were so successful this past season was the comaraderie and closeness of the players. It was also one of the reasons the 2009 & 2010 Jets were so successful, then Tanny and Rex began dismantling that team and things fell apart in 2011. I don't want to see the same thing happen again. It may not be an issue with Powell, but it's something to consider.

I get what you're saying, but I think Wilkerson being shipped off is going to be a far bigger discouragement for the players, in particular Sheldon Richardson, especially since we just did the same thing with Revis. Getting rid of money hungry Revis at the time was the correct move it seemed as we were entering a retooling type of year with this team, getting rid of Wilkerson will be another move to salvage the rest of the team unfortunately.

Most players understand it's a business though. I get the whole point but we have plenty of locker room leaders (Fitz assuming he resigns, Marshall, Mangold in particular, maybe Colon if he stays on the minimum) to the point where it shouldn't be too big of an issue for anyone that's not Mr. Richardson. Irregardless we should keep Powell to the tune of $1.5-$2 million with escalators if he becomes the feature back with X amount of carries.

I want Miller as much as anyone since he's a rare breed of a youthful do it all runningback without a lot of miles on his tires. I just don't see us coming up with the $7-$8 million he's worth, unfortunately.

I agree. I wasn't even saying that Powell was that big a leader, was just trying to point out that creating a team/roster is more than just taking the most talented players. If we can't keep Mo, it will definitely hurt morale and will hurt on the field, but if we keep him, in all likelihood there will be a lot of other players gone as well. Mac is in a "damned if you, damned if you don't" situation.

I really like this kid JetLifeLo. I think Alex Collins has even better hands. Love his vision, I think we need to pick this up in the 3rd or even 2nd if we have to.

Wow how disrespectful of me to leave out my guy Kenneth Dixon!

This years Ameer Abdullah to keep it short and sweet. Dixon can break tackles though unlike Ameer.

Edit: there's no way you can watch this video and not want him on our team.

This is probably an echo of what a lot of people wan't, but the only way I am taking a RB at #20 is if there are no franchise T or OLB available at that pick.. Would much rather take RB at round 2 or 3.

I remember watching videos on Kyle Wilson at Boise State thinking the same thing and look where that got us. :)

RB's are way easier to evaluate than corners.. you gotta watch game-time film on corners to get a better understanding... but yeah i know what you mean.. Wilson's highlight tape was boss lol

I think Powell will be resigned and we let Ivory walk.

To replace Ivory won't be easy but I think can be done either at the draft or in free agency.

If we can land Forte on the cheap that would be our best option but drafting Zeke, Henry or Collins isn't a bad option either.

Miller isn't worth the money... I'd rather keep Ivory if we are paying $5+ mil per...

Realistically we need to be in the 3-4 mil per year catagory

I think he's well worth it. Hes a dual threat runningback that catches the ball out of the backfield as well as anyone in the league not named Bell and Forte. He has great vision and luckily for his next team he was underutilized in a stupid ass horizontal run game employed by Bill Lazer.

His only question mark is how he would do in an under center offense, although that wouldn't be an issue for us since we operate primarily out of the shotgun. Three down runningbacks are becoming a lot more valuable in this league than traditional downhill runners like AP who are 0's catching the ball out of the backfield.

Thanks for posting these. He does look like a great prospect. With regards to your edit, you should have said, "there's no way you can watch this video and NOT want him on our team." And I agree with that statement. I'd love to see the Jets add Dixon, in the 3rd round or wherever is good value.
