It's gonna be hard to say whether or not he will be there. We see it every year that QB'S are over drafted. I will be curious to see where Milroe and Jaxson Dart end up going. I think that's gonna determine McChord's draft stock. Another name to watch is Will Howard and see if OSU winning the Championship this year will boost his draft stock. Honestly, from what I have watched regarding McChord, if he is sitting there in the 2nd or 3rd round I would run to the podium. Let McChord sit for the year and just act like a sponge. Then let Jordan Travis and Kyle McChord dual it out the following year.
Actually, yes, I went and did a full research before I opened my mouth...er...typed. I'm NOT impressed, period. I'm also not alone. To be quite frank, your assessment is contrary to most from what I've been reading. It's pretty common knowledge that this QB draft class is MID-LING at best. Also, as far as Milroe is concerned, being a Bama product, I would expect his win/loss record to be far better. Look, I'm nowhere near a QB expert, obviously, but this team has NEVER been able to develop a QB. Any kid that walks through that door needs to basically be the second coming of Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck. Also, I VEHEMENTLY disagree about the NIL, ESPECIALLY at QB. Damn it! Even in the NFL, STABILITY and REPETITION is key! You don't get that by bouncing around to a multitude of different schools. P-E-R-I-O-D!! Tell you what, we can agree to disagree.
I remember it was reported extensively. Hell, they tried to pull the same shit with Eli only a different set of teams. Archie Manning wasn't about to let his kid come to the Jets. Parcells being here was irrelevant. The whole world knew Parcells was wrapping up a coaching career. It wouldn't have mattered if it were in the rules, a guarantee would have been useless because Parcells was almost done coaching. No one is going to put, on paper, they won't let their kid get drafted by "X" but the underlying details were widely circulated. No one will ever convince me otherwise. Back in those days, the kids at the top of the 1st were getting massively PAID. So, Peyton going back to play his senior year, just because, doesn't pass the "smell" test.
You just showed that Nix and Daniels have way more starts than Wilson and Lance as a result of NIL. How is that a negative? Repetition is key but you want guys with less repetition just because it means they stayed at the same college and sat for two years instead of getting reps somewhere they actually played? It’s honestly the dumbest logic I’ve heard in a while around here and I’m not trying to be mean. Your whole NIL hurts QB’s logic makes no sense and you’ve posted supporting evidence against your own argument twice. You researched what? You went back and watched full game scripts or read some other opinions and formulated your own based on others (rather than with your eyes)? Analyzing Milroe and more importantly any QB based on W-L record (especially in college) is just dumb and I don’t care who they play for. He was also 21-6 which includes a loss to eventual National Champion Michigan in overtime, two wins over Georgia (zero losses) and he beat Jayden Daniels LSU Tigers.
We do not disagree on that at all. But I thought he did not do it because it was against the rules with severe punishment if broken. I was around at the time, but wasn't following closely enough to know if it would have been easy or not to get away with it back in the day with under the table deals like that. Parcells says the only thing he could say is that he was a great player, and he did that. He later said he would have picked him #1 if he declared. So, I don't know what the real reason was why he did not give a guarantee, but he certainly implied that he could not do it for the tampering reasons. Again, don't know how easy it was to get caught back then. Knowing the history it was certainly worth a try, but at the time it is not so clear to me, so I am not blaming him.
The more playoff football I watch the more I realize just how mobile the new era of QBs are. Due to our draft pick, we may be shut out of the top two but think Jaxson Dart needs a long hard look with our 2nd round pick. I also love Kyle McCord if we go to a more run heavy O, think he struggles a bit vs blitz but is a great player.
This draft should be simple. Take Will Campbell at 7 and either McCord or Dart in the second and let them develop behind ARod
