The problem with that is I'm seeing Matthews as a low 1st high 2nd round pick, Ford as a low 1st round pick, and Dion Bailey ranked some places as a low 2nd round pick. I also don't see any way Barr slips to even #18. If he did, and the Jets were dumb enough to trade down, Miami would almost certainly sprint to the podium and take him laughing at the Jets the whole way. That said, I'd love it through the 15th pick of the 4th round, but not so much afterwards except Archer, and maybe Lynch and Gaines. Jets fans would freak as would the media at taking two OLBs. LOL Holy cow, I can hear the uproar now. The Jets wouldn't even have to field a secondary after adding Barr and Ford to the pass rush. Opposing QBs would stand no chance.
Not that draft sites matter but a lot of boards have been dropping some of the players. Plus the sim does "simulate how some players fall". I've seen Jordan Matthews go as high as #19 and as low as middle of the third round just in the last week. There is a small number of players I've never seen fall to 18. Those include Bridgewater, Clowney, Bortels, and a couple of others. I've yet to see Clowney, for instance, go lower than #7 or #8. But in maybe 1 in 25 or 30 sims I've seen one of Dee Ford, Ryan Shazier Available at #17 in the 2nd round. It's rare but it does happen. There are several positions that seem to have the most volatility in moving WAY up or WAY down in the draft. Wide receivers are one group, Tight ends are another group. In the last week, for example I've seen Jace Amaro, Troy Nikolas, and ASJ each go as high as #15 and as low as the middle of the third round. However the lowest I've ever seen Ebron go was #27 or 28. The sim has a great deal of volatility built in to it in order to remove how predictable the sim is, which is what keeps the game interesting. But usually players projected for the 1st round go in the first round, players projected for the 2nd go in the second...after that it gets a lot more murky. and like the real draft there are always players who are real reaches that show up and players who drop for no apparent reason the pundits, it's what makes the draft so enjoyable to watch and the game does it's best to emulate that I think. Though it will never be perfect of course until such time as computers gain artificial intelligence
Just as a general fyi on the draft sim, I've come to learn (Despite my earlier suspicion) that they base their draft rankings off of the NFL.com draft ranks.
I still can't figure out how they got C.J. Mosley as the #1 pick in the draft after a huge trade up in one of the sims I ran. Tom Cousineau is the only ILB/MLB drafted #1 overall in the NFL draft since the merger. There has never been a S, TE or OG taken #1. The sim should have an absolute rule built in that no team can take one of these positions on the 1 pick, particularly in this draft which is so full of talent and in which none of the top 5 prospects plays one of these positions.
Well, yeah, but you can write hard rules that prevent the RNG from doing impossible things. C.J. Mosley is not going #1 in this draft given the talent available. He's certainly not going #1 after somebody trades 2 1st's and a 2nd to move up to the 1 pick.
This would be the greatest draft in the history of the draft, not just for the Jets but for the NFL. Kiper and McShay would be giving us an "A" during the 2017 draft just for getting the extra credit for this draft. The first 5 picks and Parker would be unprecedented, that Duke guy could be named dildoe instead of Cockring and it'd still be incredible. _
Took a shot at this with the comp picks… traded back in the first round with Green bay then moved up in the 4th round with St Louis. I think many of you are wrong about Stephen Hill. I think the front office and coaching staff is going to give him one more solid opportunity. He's not going to be buried either, I project he will either be starting or the 3rd WR on opening day. He was doing very well last year early on before his concussion. Jets are also happy with David Nelson who was impressive. Gut feeling ... i dont think Jets go to the WR well till round 3-4. And it makes sense with the wr depth in draft.

Second attempt. Warning: DOUBLE DIPPING EXTRAVAGANZA! There, I did it. Again. LOL. Their AI obviously hates double dipping, regardless of the value at that spot. Ebron, Adams AND ASJ, are you kidding me? [LOL] I have some reservations against Hubbard - he will require some fine-tuning and training. He is more of a Sam backer than the pass rusher I would hope to get. [Dee Ford was the guy I was shooting for at round 2, but he was picked slightly ahead of me. The reason is that, he almost always plays from the strong side, but still crushes the pocket and gets sacks somehow. With him charging in from the strong side, anybody could rush from the weakside and generate sufficient pass rush. If that is a blue-chip OLB prospect, it sounds even better.] P.S. McCarron pick at the start of 4th round is almost a ritual for me - so don't comment on THAT pick. I always grab him there by a rule.
Quite obviously, they don't have 'position' flag written into their program. [If they did have it, then such request would be a routine procedure. If the said random pick happens to raise the flag - i.e. the kid is ILB - then they can instruct the AI to roll again, etc.]
Warning on this one. This was strictly an experiment with the program and in it I did something I had never done in the 200 or so drafts I've run over the past couple months....I traded a future pick. I did wind up with an ungodly number of low level picks but that was largely a result of me trading down to maximize the player grade of the players I had targeted for a certain round. Case in point I traded down in the 2nd round and got a lower 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks because I wanted to get better than a B on my TE pick. In a real draft, or if I ignored the grade (but then what would be the point of playing the game?) and just taken them when I had the pick. Never the less, it was an interesting draft. With my future pick trade I landed a 2nd and 3rd round pick and grabbed a first round talent. I also, since I was just playing around, took a different draft philosophy. It wound up with a completely re-vamped Linebacker corp with Anthony Barr, Dee Ford, and Shayne Skov. I almost pulled the trigger and tried to trade my other future draft pick on CJ Moseley when he was available at the #3 pick of the 2nd round. That would have been a monster LB corp Anyways, I know there are way too many picks, I was trying to game the system a bit. BTW trading a future pick really knocks down your score. (side note, as unrealistic as the number of picks is it is one hell of a draft.) Again, this was just playing around and not attempting to be serious. Your score is: 4012 (Drafting Ability: C+, Player Quality A, Future Draft Picks: C-) Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 19 (MIA): Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA (A) (Miami in the trade drafted Manzeil) Round 2 Pick 8 (MINN): Dee Ford, DE, Auburn (A-) This is where I spent future pick. Round 2 Pick 30 (N.E.): Troy Niklas, TE, Notre Dame (A) Traded down from 17 a couple times to get him in to A range Round 3 Pick 16: Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt (A) The Jets natural draft pick Round 3 Pick 17 (MIA): Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss (A) From the Miami 1 slot trade down Round 3 Pick 22 (PHI): Charles Sims, RB, West Virginia (A-) this was the 2nd pick acquired in my future pick trade. Round 3 Pick 29 (N.E.): Joel Bitonio, OT, Nevada (B+) (this was an extra pick I'd gained trading down in round 2 for Niklas Round 4 Pick 12 (TENN): Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU (A) Traded the Buccaneers pick for Revis (again to get an A grade) Round 4 Pick 28 (CAR): Shayne Skov, ILB, Stanford (A) Everything below this point were moves down to build value of pick. I'm wondering if the character issues, which are overblown IMO, will scare the Jets off Aikens. He's the kind of guy who has the potential to be a star CB but is way down the lists because he had to play at a small school after getting arrested as a freshman.
I almost always grab him if he's there at low rounds. I see some potential in him too - which means they must see something as well.
Here's one without any trades, and added brief explanations. I think this adds some explosive pieces that are missing from this offensive, as well as some defensive prospects to compete and groom for the future. Round 1 Pick 18: Marqise Lee, WR, Southern California (A) - potential #1, playmaker, instant starter, injuries do scare me, but with his talent well worth risk Round 2 Pick 17: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington (A) - big rz target and safety blanket, 2nd/3rd best TE in draft, basketball player Round 3 Pick 16: Keith McGill, CB, Utah (A-) - rare size/speed, strong, good press man cb Round 4 Pick 4: Dion Bailey, FS, Southern California (B) - decent prospect, provides young competition at FS Round 4 Pick 15: Lache Seastrunk, RB, Baylor (A) - explosive threat in backfield to compliment ivory Round 4 Pick 37 (COMP): Ahmad Dixon, SS, Baylor (A) - fast, physical safety, depth and competition for Allen/landry Round 5 Pick 14: James Hurst, OT, North Carolina (B+) - Oline depth Round 6 Pick 19: Aaron Lynch, DE, South Florida (B) - good pass rusher, groom under C. Pace Round 6 Pick 33 (COMP): Dri Archer, WR, Kent State (A) - another explosive threat as a wr/rb/ret Round 6 Pick 34 (COMP): Tom Hornsey, P, Memphis (A) - finally a good punter! Round 6 Pick 37 (COMP): Max Bullough, ILB, Michigan State (B+) - depth, groom under harris Round 7 Pick 18: Marcel Jenson, TE, Fresno State (C-) - another big TE, depth
