Steelers would be a good fit too. They need help there too with Sanders most likely gone and Wallace last year...
Brian Bassett @Brian_Bassett 1m Jets have private meeting with USC WR Marqise Lee http://bit.ly/1gtICsw #Jets #NFL
Those stats might have just a little something to do with playing ball against FSU's opponents vs Oregon State's. Also thought this was pretty amusing when I typed him into Google:
Lee would definitely open up Decker and Kerley some. If the Jets used Lee as an X out on the left and then had Decker as the Z with Kerley slotted inside him they'd put a lot of pressure on the defense. The usual reaction to that type of formation would be to put the #2 CB on Lee and roll the coverage that way. However Lee is probably going to eat #2 CB's alive and so you wind up with the #1 on his side and all sorts of mismatches on the right between Decker, Kerley and the TE.
Lee or Cooks, and maybe even Beckham would accomplish the same things, but I don't think Evans would. Evans and Decker are too similar in size and speed.
I agree, I was high on Evans but now that we have Decker we should be looking at Lee or Beckham for that speed. Lee has really intrigued me as of late with decent size at 6'0 but so explosive and great after the catch.
You don't like Cooks? IMO he's every bit as good as Lee and maybe better, and definitely better than Beckham, and I love Beckham's game.
Cooks is good but his height is a question mark for me as an outside receiver. Especially with his ability to get off the press I see cooks as more of a slot receiver and we need a #1 or 2 not a slot.
Thanks. I understand where you're coming from. Cooks is short, no doubt about it, but he's quick, tough, smart and I think he is much more than just a slot WR. If the CB misses on the press at the LOS, he and that team are in deep doo doo with Cooks. He's a game breaker/changer. A player that opposing DCs would have to scheme against, much more so than Beckham and maybe Lee imo.
Cooks is the most explosive player in the draft I wouldn't argue against that but if it came down to Lee or Cooks at our pick I just personally would feel more comfortable with Lee. I would be happy with either pick though.
I'll honestly be just crushed if they take Lee.. He's a band aid with poor technique catching the ball. Most overrated WR in the draft.
Wholeheartedly disagree. I think Lee has the best chance of any WR in the draft of succeeding. That's not to say he has the highest ceiling, but if I had to bet on one player that will at least be an above average WR, it'd be Lee.
Well Br4dw4y5ux, it appears your wish may come true. I'm a little worried about Lee also (durability issues) - he might be the best fit next to Decker. You can line Lee up anywhere. Split end (x), Flanker (y), or Slot receiver (z). Marty likes versatile wide receivers. He maybe the best fit after all. I feel more comfortable with Lee doing this then Cooks.
Watkins and Evans? Lee is a poor mans version of Victor Cruz.. He cant catch the ball with his hands it seems.. It always hits him in the chest too! Plus he is a complete band aid.. You look at him the wrong way and he injures himself... Hopefully its just a smokescreen! Watch this vid. It exposes his poor technique and questionable hands.
Evans is an extremely raw WR. If Evans and Lee are sitting there at 18, I take Lee. Watkins is the best WR prospect in this draft, but he still has bust potential. He isn't an AJ Green or a Julio Jones. He's pretty much a RB playing WR. I'd certainly take him over Lee, and he has a higher ceiling, but I think Lee is a more sure thing to succeed.
wow just wow In all honesty i dont even have Lee in my top 5 WRs Watkins Evans Benjamin Cooks Beckham I just dont think you can be successful as a WR if you cant catch the ball with your hands. Plus he has durability issues already...
His durability issues are way overblown. He got injured last season and fought through it. I don't see that as durability issues at all. We're just going to need to agree to disagree here. He runs great routes, catches the ball, and is explosive after the catch. I could just as easily make a youtube video showing proper technique. I think you having Benjamin at 3 says it all. You value that size and speed and "boom" potential more-so than actual production and on the field skills.
Rockinz, you need to give it up, bud. You're wrong, just as you're wrong about Benjamin. You're entitled to your opinion, but you're wrong.
