I feel as though if Gregory puts on 10-15 pounds, he'll be the best pass-rusher. Beasley has some amazing pass-rushing moves and Fowler has a great combination of size and speed.

I hope fowler falls to us. He would make this defense go from great to elite. I'm so excited to see this defense in action already. If we can add a pass rusher like fowler to come off the edge this defense will strike fear in opponents. Wilkerson-Richardson-coples-fowler on passing downs rushing the passer with another 1-2 players blitzing, game over man. We have the cornerbacks now to be able to give the front more then 2 seconds to get to the qb. I've got goosebumps thinking about the potential of this defense!

Given what you just said (which I agree with btw), would you trade up for Fowler? (the Jags will likely take him otherwise).

I love fowler but I don't think we should be trading up. We don't have many draft picks to begin with. But if he isn't there at 6 I want us to try to find a trading partner to trade back. He's really the only player I want at 6. Don't like Winston or Mariota and I think they will both be gone. Don't know who someone would trade up for if those three guys are gone though

Agreed that if it's gonna have to be a pass rusher early, trade down for more picks first.

Odds are at least 1 or 2 of these guys (or all of them, for that matter, possibly) will turn out to be complete busts. None of these guys is anywhere close to a sure thing. It seems like they all come with major question marks.

If Winston is there at #6 I would be tripping over myself trying to sprint to the podium.

The card would be in the commish's hands in under 10 seconds.

    C. None of the above. I don't think that any of them are worthy of the #6 pick. If forced to take one of them, it would be Gregory.

The guy is a mess. He's nothing but trouble. What does everyone think is going to happen when he gets money, make it all better? I don't trust him at all to stay out of trouble, especially in New York

Thats why he is due for a workout at Jets facility 3/28 to assess his skills. He doesn't have to be perfect lol. But if after a number of years in league he goes great THEN who made a collossal mistake?? Point being every draft pick is a risk but this Franchise continues not to take risks on potential good QBS. Why are you comparing him to Geno?? LMAO. Then there is Harrington and Smith just because they came from Oregon its all bad and MM will be bad. Not seeing the logic. Mariotta should be evaluated based on his skill set, period. He could have gone to any college. If you want to go a safer route package a deal for Rivers. But avoiding this issue is a major problem. Doubt the FO does that.

Of those 3, I'd take Beasley.
Hunter never lived up to his potential at LSU. He was supposed to be the next big pass rusher after Montgomery and Mingo were drafted, but he never reached their level. He has the athleticism and size to be a very productive OLB in the NFL. I'd rather target Hunter in the 2nd round or Dupree in a trade back scenario than draft Ray.

I do agree with you that you have to take risks sometimes to find a franchise QB. I was all in favor of trading up for Sanchez the year we drafted him, because I read a lot of good things about him, and he looked to me like someone who I could picture becoming a franchise QB. Of course this is not an exact science, and he didn't pan out, but that hindsight doesn't make it a bad move. I just don't see Mariota as a good prospect, based on the little I've seen him play, but mostly on what I've heard the experts say about him, what I've read about him, and even appearances....he looks too much like an immature kid to me, kind of like Kaepernick...kind of that "surfer dude" look. I know that by itself is not a reliable "metric", but all things together he just gives me the "willies" if you know what I mean, and I don't mean Joe Willie Namath!

I would be in favor of trading for Rivers, if the price is right. But I just have a gut feeling that Geno will prove us all wrong this year and put together a nice season, not necessarily big stats but cut down on the mistakes and become a quality starter. And if not I think Fitz could be the kind of Alex Smith-like game manager who could pilot this team, with our great D, to where it needs to go. So I personally don't see the need to force a draft pick, or a trade, for a QB unless it's someone Bowles and the FO really likes.

I agree. I wouldn't mind someone like Gregory, Beasley, or even Ray at #6, because it's not far from where those guys are projected to go, and it would fill a need area, but I would prefer trading down also. Especially if Mariota is there and someone like the Eagles is willing to give us a nice package of picks for him!

....but if you think Fowler would make a big impact on our D, possibly putting us over the top, don't you think it might be worth it to trade a package of picks, even future picks, if Fowler could be the missing piece to deliver a [jinxy prediction omitted] right now?

Jets aren't drafting an edge rusher at 6 and they don't need to. In a Boles defense he has enough different people blitzing on every play that an edge rusher would only get in the way. They are going offense all the way with that pick, one way or another even if it means trading down.

I wouldn't be made if we traded up for him because I think he's on another level than ray, Gregory, Beasley. That's just my opinion though. But I think if fowlers gone and coopers there we take cooper over the other pass rushers

I would certainly be happy with Cooper as well! He looks like an elite WR prospect.

I agree with this right here. Especially if they don't slip down too far.

At the 6 spot, there are still a few guys that other teams may covet. It's easier said than done, but if the opportunity to move back a bit comes up, they should take it in my opinion. If the pick comes down to these three, I find better value in an added pick and another pass rusher further down the line (ex. Dupree).

Gregory it appears failed a drug test at the Combine.

I already had started to get on the Beasley bandwagon tho.

Beasley is climbing now, but there's still a lot of differing opinion about the top 4 edge guys.

If i can't get my QB I want an elite pass rusher.
So if that's what Mac&TB&Co. go for I'm good. I will trust that it will be their guy if he's there, and not reach for that if their guy is off the board.

Meanwhile it looks like Gregory fucked himself good. I hope he wasn't our guy. If he was it's on to plan B....maybe rd 2 for him
