You couldn't be more wrong with this post. It is NOT a deep draft at IOL for players who will fit our scheme. There are very few IOL who fit our scheme. We do NOT have to address the back 7 badly. Again, protecting Wilson and ensuring that he develops is priority #1. The D can't wait another year. To prioritize that over ensuring that Wilson succeeds is nothing short of insanity! We do NOT look to offense too much. That's ridiculous and ignores what the Jets have done over most of the last 20 years. They have tried to win with D. Most of their top picks have gone to D. Most of what few high draft picks went to offense were busts because Mac and Idzik were incompetent. The D is light years ahead of the offense. Last year our offense wasn't even on an NFL level, and it hasn' t been for most of the last 10 years. That is a big part of why Sam failed.

there are more on the back end of the draft and we have 4 picks in the top 2 rounds next year. it's a need but not as pressing as back 7 on defense. our 1st pick will to offense (QB), we remade the o-line last year, signed 2 WRs this year, drafting a new CB and have done nothing for defense really
You're wrong. Your priorities are totally in the wrong place, and you don't understand roster building if you want to focus on LB and the back 7 when we're drafting a rookie QB. SMH I also think you're wrong about IOL on the back end of the draft, but even if there are some there that could develop, they won't help this year, and this is the most important year for Wilson.
It wasn't meant as an attack, but rather a statement of fact. We all know that the Jets didn't build around Sanchez once they started cutting the older veterans, and they didn't build around Sam, and they both failed. A large part of their failure was due to the fact that the Jets failed to recognize the importance of building around the QB and ensuring that he succeeded. They kept trying to win with defense. You're adovcating the same thing. You haven't learned from Jets' history, and those who fail to learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. I'm tryin to educate you. Look at the D and see how many high draft picks there are on that unit, then look at the offense and see how few high draft picks have been invested in that unit. Most of the FA $s and acquisitions went to the D, not the offense. We haven't had an NFL-caliber offense since what, 2015 or 2016? You're a good poster, but you get off on these wild tangents that no one but you espouses, and you refuse to accept that you're wrong on them when posters provide proof and counterpoints to you. You're like a dog with a bone. When you take a rookie QB the widely-accepted thing to do is to build around him to give him every chance to succeed, especially if your OL and skill position players around the QB are less than stellar. One invests too much in them, and the QB position is too darned important to just leave it to chance, or to focus on defense instead. When a QB or high 1st round pick fails, it sets the franchise back for years, and it doesn't make one whit of difference how strong the back 7 is. We all seem to realize that but you. You're the only one advocating for drafting two LBs and obsessing over the back 7. Maybe that should tell you something. Also, the reality is that players taken at the back end of the draft often don't even make teams, but even if they do or the PS, they rarely contribute their rookie season. We need OL help now. Everyone seems to recognize that fact but you. Wilson's rookie season is the most important in terms of his development. We can't have him running for his life or hoping that the OL will be better because they're all veterans now and have a year's experience together. Strengthening the OL is like a type of insurance. Do you skip on health insurancer or life insurance to protect your family and just hope that everything will be ok? Again, I'm sorry that you took it as an attack. It wasn't mean to be one. I like you and respect you, but this particular opinion or obsession you have is wack.
here is what your missing. with the way you post you can't educate me. you just recycle the same stuff over and over. I'm always open to learning more but hearing the same thing repeated by 50 people isn't going to help. I could watch any analyst to hear the same stuff you say. I'm trying to get you to think out of the box. be your own person. form your own opinion. everyone knows there isn't 1 right way to build a team. history has shown this over and over. look take the texans. they had a FQB they drafted, they traded picks for a FLT, then drafted a RT in the 1st. where did that get them? 4-12 last season. how many lineman did the patriots take high? they won 6 SBs. how about the steelers? they won 2. Not saying it's bad, i'm saying there is more then 1 way and the draft is a crab shoot. I like jenkins a lot. I'd be happy with him at 23. but this is a forum. the point is to discuss the options not parrot 1 thing that will never be factually correct. look at sanchez. he had a great team around him. didn't work. but we did get to 2 AFC champ games based on defense and just enough from the offense. the o-line wasn't stacked either. we had brick and mangold and then serviceable players in the other 3 spots. becton and mcgovern can be our brick and mangold. and well mcgovern isn't as good as mangold. becton has every ability to be better then brick was. QBs don't succeed when playing behind. even the best ones. putting them in manageable situations means a lot. I know our offense has sucked since forever save for 3 years in the past 20 or so. 2002 with chad, 2007 with favre, and 2015 with fitz. you also can't say it wasn't meant as an attack, as you do it again in this post. you don't have an argument so you default to the "your an idiot" defense. an ad-hominen attack. for someone who can't argue their side. we signed like 5 free agent lineman in the past 2 years. 3 of them starters. we resigned 1 starter. we drafted one in the 1st. we drafted a project one in the mid rounds who you haven't given a chance to. with that said JOK isn't impressing me much anymore and i'm leanig towards collins at 23 and if he's not there going with o-line and taking mcgrone in the 3rd and another LBer late like 6th round. but thats the thing about me. I look at the angles, differen't mock drafts make different decisions up to the draft. you don't you take 1 stance and stick with it. your not flexible and any good GM is always flexible. that's why it's hard to take you seriously between that and the attacks. you calling me a "dog with a bone" is what you do. it's classic projection but you don't have the EQ to see that you do what you accuse me of. If you want to wonder why I don't take you seriously it's all those reasons. if you can make an argument while 1) being flexible, 2 don't project, and 3 no ad-hominen attacks then i'll take you seriously. but in my 5 plus years on this forum I haven't seen you do it once. you are who you are. it won't change. You never considered our defense getting lit up and our rookie QB down by 21 will hurt him? apparently not.
Not my highest score but I really like this one. At 11 I took a defensive stud and gambled that I could get a nice receiver later. YOUR TEAM: NEW YORK JETS GAME OVER! Another no trade draft Round 1 Pick 2: Zach Wilson, QB, BYU (A+) Round 1 Pick 23: Zaven Collins, ILB/OLB, Tulsa (A-) Round 2 Pick 2: Jalen Mayfield, OT, Michigan (A-) Round 3 Pick 2: Kelvin Joseph, CB, Kentucky (A) Round 3 Pick 22: Cameron McGrone, ILB/OLB, Michigan (A) Round 4 Pick 2: James Wiggins, FS/SS, Cincinnati (A+) Round 5 Pick 2: Seth Williams, WR, Auburn (A+) Round 5 Pick 10: Nick Eubanks, TE, Michigan (A+) Round 6 Pick 3: Rachad Wildgoose, CB, Wisconsin (A+) Round 6 Pick 43 (COMP): Ben Mason, FB/RB, Michigan (A-) wilson is the obvious pick at #2. after that I went for collins since in this draft he fell. i'd easily take him if he falls to 23 no questions asked. in the 2nd I address the o-line with mayfield who can start at OG in 2021 and eventually replace fant at RT when we move on from him. for the 3rd round I got us a starting LBer and a CB with potential to be a CB1 in time. in th3 4th and 5th i grabbed a safety and a WR and a TE. finally in the 6th more CB depth and a FB

I would be okay with these picks except go with a higher end RB with the 2nd 3rd round pick. I don’t think it’s necessary to pick another LB at 3rd round after picking Collins.

I probably should have stopped around pick 140 because after that I was really just drafting the BPA, since I dont know a lot of these players. Insanely unrealistic, but if the first five picks played out like this, it would be a home run. 2. Zach Wilson 23. Alijah Vera-Tucker 34. Caleb Farley 66. Landon Dickerson 86. Brevin Jordan 128. I like it all except the Dickerson and Dimukeje picks. Dickerson is not a fit for our blocking scheme imo, and can't stay healthy. Dimukeje isn't going to make it in the NFL imo. He was good for Duke, but doesn't have the size to play DE and not the speed/skill to play LB.
