Seriously? I have a pretty good feeling that Kyle Wilson was still the Jets top player even if the Dolfags passed on Odrick.
true but you gotta admit, Taylor is one of (if not the best) Dolphins defender in history. Nobody the Dolphins took is considered an "all-time" Jet great
In this discussion that's a plus for the Jets, not the Dolphins... we pick up your best defender in history... you pick up our scrubs.
Well, in New York, he knew Rex Ryan's defense - so that was a plus. In Miami, he'll probably just be a rotational body that takes up space and makes an occasional play against the run. In my opinion, he's done and that's what Rex Ryan didn't bring him back. It's become obvious over the past couple hours that the Dolphins made this move because the Cowboys wouldn't trade them Marcus Spears.
He was a good guy for Rex's system and a hard worker but it was a good sign for us that we did not need him this year. Roll player at best, rather see a young guy take his spot. Sounds to me like Miami has issues on the DL.
you could say that ... Fergie just retired. Not a huge loss considering he was already suspended for 8 games and now we lose Merling. We shifted our best defensive linemen last year to playing d-tackle when he really blossomed at end last year. I'm a little concerned. We don't have alot of depth. Now Douglas and McDaniels behind Langford and Odrick. Odrick is going to have to step in and hopefully play well right away.
I guess you have to expect some losses like these with the huge contracts being signed. Priorities.. :/
Douglas was surprisingly solid for us last year and I was surprised we didn't bring him back. The CS must know something we don't, but we was very stout for us last season.
I think it's a good thing (for you guys) that Odrick gets to play a year with a player that has experience in the 3-4. Douglas was good for us and the few times I've heard him interviewed he sounded like a good locker-room guy. He should be serviceable in a rotation on the DL and help your 1st round pick come along in a 3-4 D. That said 2.5 mill for him sounds like a bit too much (but in the NFL contracts are never what they look like).
I hope it's because they have faith in DeVito and Pitotitua and not because they want to give Gholston a chance... ARGH Gholston...
^this. they have faith in DeVito and the proof is his extension. Both Pitotitua and Gholston are going to be given every chance to exceed at end this season so its less of a priority next offseason if one pans out..
