You're right. He's actually faster than Boldin. I'm not sure where the speed complaints are coming from. He's not an elusive deep threat, but he has good game speed. His 40 time was actually faster than both Fitzgerald AND Boldin, FWIW. We don't need a one dimensional deep threat, we have Clowney to develop into that or more.

I'm not sure who is a better value at the position we're picking. I'm not big on DHB, Harvin is less of a stellar receiver and more of a Leon type player. I doubt Maclin is still around at 17. It just looks more and more like Nicks would be the pick. If people are that worried, I suppose there's a chance of trading down and still picking him up, as one poster mentioned.

hmmm..interesting fact..that i didn't know. Thanks for the update, mang.

In that case...this just hammers my point regarding Nicks even further. I agree that Clowney would fill the role of the deep threat...he just needs the chance to get off the bench.

Nicks would fit in nicely....I'd be ok with Maclin too....but i like the fact that Nicks' is more physical and can run routes. We've seen what speed demons like Troy Williamson can do when you have all the speed in the world...but couldn't catch a cold and runs routes like a drunken sailor.

I would like to draft Nicks, Britt, Harvin, or Robiskie in the 2nd round.

Nicks reminds me of Boldin. He runs very physically, and runs great routes. He catches the ball with his hands and looks to get yards after the catch. is knock is speed, but he ran a 4.49 (I believe) so he's got decent speed.

Britt reminds me of Plaxico Burress. He's shorter than Burress, but he's faster. Britt has good hands, but he isn't as physical as you'd like him to be. Don't know how he's going to turn out.

Harvin is a weapon. He's not a pure wide receiver, but he's a great player to have. Even though he's 5'11'', he's over 200lbs (I think) and he runs a 4.41. He has great YAC ability with Reggie Bush-esq moves. His route running isn't too shabby either.

I've seen very little of Robiskie, and having Pryor as a quarterback didn't help to showcase his potential. I like his height (6'3"") and his speed (in the 4.4's). So far, I can only picture him as a bigger and faster Anthony Gonzalez (which isn't a bad place to start).

If I has to choose, I'd probably go Nicks, Harvin, Robiskie, and Britt

Robiskie isn't faster than Gonzalez. He is a more complete receiver though - ideal height, solid hands, and the best body control out of any of the receivers in this draft.

He ran a 4.44 at the combine, but supposedly he consistently ran in the 4.3s at most of his previous workouts.

Gonzalez slipped into the first round because of his great speed.

We need a WR in this draft. If we can't get Maclin in the first round we should be looking at Britt in the second if he hasn't moved his position up to the first. Both of them offer things we don't have on this team. Maclin brings the speed we need with a better build as a #1 than Clowney and Britt's size, hands, and his ability to make sideline catches are all either out of the equation or simply not seen thus far in our current roster.

If Cotch is you number 1, other defensive backfields will laugh our offense off the field.

Nicks would be great round 1 but I think we could get a good WR in round 2. Between Crabtree, Maclin, Nicks, Bey, Harvin & Britt I think 1 of these guys will be there in round 2.

Smith sucks and should be let go. He was a failed experiment. Mangini was trying to copy the steelers, just like he tried to copy Miami and the wildcat.

Cleveland will suck so bad they year.

If DHB was there in the 2nd, I without question take him. Harvin I'd pass on even in the 2nd. I'd stay the hell away from him personally. I would take Crabtree, Maclin, Nicks, or Britt in the first, and if we passed on them there, I'll gladly take them in the 2nd if one of them fell.

My order right now is Nicks, Britt, Maclin, Crabtree, DHB, Robiskie, Iglesias, Murphy, Harvin. I may have forgotten a name or two in there. Yes, Crabtree has fallen to 4th on my wishlist. The posters of this board have really started to make me doubt his pro potential haha.

I think we should trade down from 17 to like 22-23 and take whoever is there between Britt and Nicks. If we don't trade down we might as well go with one of them and cross our fingers... Britt has more potential but is more of a gamble while Nicks is more polished but has less potential... but if we take one of the two i'm ok :D

I'm one hundred percent in agreement with this. Although I think you're underestimating Nicks' potential. If we can find a trade partner to do this I'm on board.
