if there isn't a run on wr's before our pick....trade down with whoever wants Freeman and then take a WR outside of a top 10 prospect...most wr's have dropped to the 20's and into the 2nd round the past few years
So what do you see him as? From what I am reading on most sites, he has average speed and is more of a possesion receiver. Great in college but not a gamebreaker in the NFL.
wtf are you talking about? ooooooooh, ESPN, excuse me. I take back everything I said about the study. After all, if ESPN does it, it must be right. In fact, if you would actually read it the author indirectly points to some of the issues with the study. Plus he writes this:
not sure if i want nicks... apparently he is of the cotchery mold... wouldn't we rathe some fast home run guy?
The knock on him IS his speed....but it's not like he has cinderblocks tied to his ankles. Nicks is an excellent route runner....He had 93 catches, for 1,819 yards and 20 touchdowns this past season....and he's not afraid to go over the middle.
in the past 4 years of watching every UNC game...i considered Brandon Tate a much bigger game breaking player I think he could be a great player...but the risk that everyone is talking about with wr's is there with Nicks I wanted him in the 3rd until his stock skyrocketed after the bowl game and into all the predraft mania
Come on MBGreen thats not fair, We need more titty avatars. Although, I wouldn't mind picking up Nicks in a later round if hes available just not first round.
That is the same feeling I am getting reading the reports on these sites. I don't watch alot of college so I don't know firsthand, I am assuming those who back this guy have watched him play and can describe him better than just a scouting report.
*Slaps hand to forehead* You really are retarded. It's called sarcasm. Who the fuck looks to ESPN for the latest in statistical relevance? They'd just call you, right?
Than what is Nicks role? If it is just a solid possesion receiver, why not just try to sign someone like Amani Toomer for cheap? Again I am not bashing those that want him, I just am not sure of his role.
*Bangs head on desk* Who the hell quotes a study to back up his point and then says it's not scientific or relevant. So excuse me if I missed the sarcasm. Oh, BTW, I've done statistical studies for multibillion dollar companies, so they could do worse than call me. And no, I'm not being sarcastic.
Who the hell has to twist his opponent's words into unrecognizable hyperbole to make his point? I said it wasn't scientific. Nor was it relevant to true statistics. Never said it wasn't relevant, period.
No, don't leave. I have so many questions for you! Where did you goto university? Where do you work? How old are you? Are you married? Whats his name?
Because Amani Toomer is old enough to be Nicks' father. I see what you're getting at Hemi....because Nicks didn't run as fast as DHB or some other burners at the combine...you're asking why we would need another possession WR. My answer is....I think Nicks brings more intangibles...he's known for being an excellent route runner...has reliable hands. He has no fear of going over the middle and is not afraid to get physical. Minus the speed, he sounds like an Anquan Boldin clone to me...you and others may disagree...that's just my opinion. I think our young QBs would benefit from having a 2nd wideout that isn't afraid of running other routes besides the "Go" up the seam....and a wideout with great hands. Clemens got killed from chumps like McCareins dropping his passes left, right and center. Clemens/Ratliff need guys like this that don't suffer from the "dropsy" syndrome. That's how I view Nicks......I think he would be an excellent addition to the team. And with some of the holes being filled (ILB, CB) in FA over the weekend.....I think we should go after a wideout (preferably Nicks) in the first round.
