People who think Wayne Hunter is the whole problem really need to step back and look at the whole picture. Hunter is a huge problem and the Jets cannot succeed without solving that problem however the facts are that the Jets have subpar talent at a lot of places on the offense right now. They haven't been using #1's to grab players on that side. Over time that really messes you up because you wind up with too many followers and not enough leaders. Not enough natural stars who are going to lead with their performance and make people account for them.
I agree with every single point. I'm almost hoping the Jets bottom out completely so they have a real chance of drafting Matt Barkley
If you beleive Sanchez was the reason we went to 2 championship games then more power to you. Good QB's dont always require an all star offense around them to be effective. If Mark doesn't have an air tight offense he cant move the offense. He is the most worthless starter in the league.
The only thing getting the top pick guarantees you in most years is another shot at a top pick. No thanks.
Overreaction. Good QB's do require good offensive talent around them. Great QB's do, but not as much. Elite QB's don't need much at all, but they need a support cast of ST and D that can help.
I kind of agree with that except this year I would have killed to draft Luck! He was a #1 that is a great bet.
Oh you are now borrowing from the football lesson I just gave you an hour ago? That's cute Sanchez' deep ball is fine. The fact that you don't think he has a history of beating a defense deep shows you are just a Tebow homer. That and your August 2012 join date. Watch some games from 2010. I don't even like Sanchez or think he is very good but his problems are not with his deep ball.
My questions to Sanchez is are you learning anything? Are you focused? Are you getting better? What are your goals for the offense and for your self this season? Do you want to win? What are you willing to sacrifice to win? Sanchez has to get smart fast. He has to understand the game plan, identify the defense at the line of scrimmage and execute a productive play call accordingly. He has to realize, by now, that his protection is worse than a trash can. Like his rookie season, he has to use his mobility and keep plays alive on his feet. It's not all his fault, but the gun is going to get passed to him if he can't figure out a way to make this offense work.
Call me crazy but I think he's looking better. Besides that one pick, he's been extremely accurate, gets rid of the ball when needed, and has done a great job reading defenses. I wish the kid had some protection on the right side, he'd be prime for an excellent season.
I do think he looks better in those areas. I really want to see him take shots down field though. Did WFH get destroyed right off the snap? Throw it to your deep route towards the sideline. I don't care if it's a throw away.
You can't be serious. Until last year, Jets fans everywhere claimed that they had far superior weapons (Holmes, Edwards, Keller, Greene, LT) and the best OL in the league. If anything, Sanchez thrived only BECAUSE of his weapons and OL because once Braylon, LT, and Woody left, they missed the playoffs.
Sanchez has a fucking gun and use to hit Braylon Edwards with bombs on the numbers dozens of times. Braylon probably dropped at least 5 passes that hit him anywhere from his helmet, shoulder pads chest or hands. You probably just started following the team so you missed that, I guess.
I had no issue with Sanchez tonight...Wayne Hunter is a waste of space, penalties are still an issue with the first team offense - holding and a false start, Sanchez was 9/11 without a 1, 2, or 3 receiver. The INT sucks but was thrown slightly behind his target - right person not the best throw but that could be an issue of timing with a guy he doesn't always throw the ball to. That is the biggest concern behind Hunter - team needs guys to catch the damn ball and they are all on the sidelines in street clothes. Time to bring in Lee Evans for experienced WR depth and a tackling dummy to replace Hunter. Manning was 7/14 for 62 yards and an ugly INT - of course that is seen as a great game according to announcers.
Call me crazy but it's preseason calm down. Yes right tackle is a huge problem that somehow needs to be addressed. But the team is running a vanilla offense with no starting receivers playing in the game. Look back to last preseason the Jets kicked the shit out of the Giants 17-3 and beat the Bengals to. What did that show us? That we had depth? We all know that wasn't true. Yes they've looked awful, but remember its preseason. Im still skeptical as to whether we can find a good right tackle between now and then though. But someone's backup has to be better than Wayne Hunter.
Oh yeah I forgot that Braylon threw a bomb to himself against Hou. And then Tone threw the fade to the back corner of the end zone to himself. In the 2010-2011 season, without Sanchez the Jets don't make the playoffs let alone the AFC championship. He was one of the key parts to that years success. He deserves credit for that year.
The coaches have killed Sanchez. He looked like he had more confidence as a rookie. Now, it's been drilled into this mind: No turnovers. No interceptions. Don't make a mistake. You can see the gears grinding in the guy's head. A quarterback has to play with bravado, confidence and a killer instinct. Can anyone rightly describe Sanchez with any of those adjectives right now?
The pick was more a problem with footwork. His feet were still pointing to the middle of the field when he threw it right.
The pick was a good decision, the guy was open, just a bad pass. Last year we saw Sanchez throw into guys that were clearly covered, the guy last night was open and it shoulda been a routine pass, just got to put the ball on the spot.
