Probably so, and he is a good player. but my question (I dont know the answer) is: exactly how many NFL games has he played as a NT in a 3-4?
None. But essentially every snap as the 4-3 nose. You're taking on double teams either way. He just now will play in the zero slot instead of the 1 gap.
It's not your money, so why do you care? He's a lot better, so it's in the team's interests to have him on board. Tannenbaum has a history of working cap magic, I trust him not to leave us short.
Thanks for the reply. I hope he can make a successful transition to a new scheme. We've already seen the results when a good player isnt a good fit for the great one's system.
Don Banks has always been negative in his reporting on the New York Jets. He's always looking at the negative in regard to the Gang Green. He'll prove to be wrong as usual...
First off I'm not writing the check but my tickets go up every year and I have spent in the 10s of thousands on the Jets over the years along w/' millions of others so in a way we are paying for. Secondly, it's about the cap. I don't want to go into cap hell again or sign guys to these fat deals then watch them not care and waht kind of magic did Tannenbaum work when we were in cap hell after the Parcells regime? We had to get rid of a bunch of good players and got lucky w/ the expansion draft or we would have been in trouble for years.
Like Don but he is wrong. We get a 2008 pick for Vilma and maybe a 2009 and Jenkins sounds stoked to play for us. Geez,
Of course they discussed it when he came here to meet with them. I read an article that confirmed that. So the Banks article posted in this thread does seem to be inaccurate regarding whether they discussed it or not. I was only asking whether he has actually played that spot in that scheme. Spending a lot is relative. They have brought in a bunch of players over the last two seasons who didnt work out- some didnt even make the team. I am not predicting Jenkins will or wont succeed- i hope he does great. But he will have to make adjustments to playing the zero gap if he hasnt done it before.
What I wold say to this writer is we made up this year for what we didn't do last year, so it really is like we actually have paid less than we really did.
