None of what you say here explains the other comment you made that said Jones would be better in a 43 defense. Personally, I don't want a LB to weigh much more than 245 (which is the ideal weight for Ryan's 34 OLB). He set the edge against the best playing in the SEC and had his best games in UGA's biggest games.

As for the stenosis, either he has it or he doesn't. An intern at USC made the original diagnosis. His Dr said no. I believe each team will rely on their own physicians. In his time at Georgia, Jones missed zero playing time as a result of the possible stenosis.

Sorry, the highlight reel to me is the most important criteria. I'm tired of these gym rats that don't produce on the field. It's your comment above that convinced Mangini to select Gholston. No thanks!

If Jones is on the board at 9, I pray he is our selection.

  2. First of all, my original comment is suggesting that Jones is a better fit in a 4-3 as an OLB/DE BASED on his size. Secondly, there is absolutely no way 6'3 245 is the ideal size for an OLB in Rex's D. Maybe 10 years ago. Try more like 6'5 260. Jones doesn't have the frame to put on that type of weight nor does he have the size/length Rex likes to set the edge.

Secondly, highlight reel is the most important criteria to you???Really? If that's the case I am not even sure why we are debating.Wow.

Does no one remember that Gholston led the nation in sacks his last year? Yes he had a great combine but he also produced at a high level in college football.

Stats in college is just one part of the equation in evaluating a prospects NFL potential, the combine and pro days are another. As for Jones his production looks worthy of top 10 but his athletic ability certainly does not and it leads me to believe that he won't translate very well to the NFL. Combine that with a medical scare and he is off my board as a top 10 pick.
