    Gran Torino?

    Doubt it.

    Laurel Canyon.

There's a book about Laurel Canyon describing some real sick shit going on there back in the 60's and 70's.

I'm a big Frank Zappa fan and he lived the LC for a period of time. He described a "freak scene" around that place that was as far away from the 60's ideal of communal peace and love as can be imagined. Laurel Canyon was a place for hardcore drugs, high level fashionistas and all out bacchanalian orgies. There's a reason that Manson cruised that place on a regular basis.

He lived here a long time.

When my dogs tennis ball gets away it rolls into FZ's yard.

It's a weird place...yet beautiful at the same time.

You know what, I think you are right. I misremembered that it was Connors.

    It was Piersoll.

    Yeah I figured that.

I think I saw a documentary also, or read something, about Piersoll too. He was quite a character, and a hellava ballplayer too.

I remember Conners was a good athlete like you said tho.

I also remember some rumors, or something, that Connors was in a porn movie or some shit, lol

    Interesting article about Piersall. http://sabr.org/bioproj/person/91fce86d

Scene from the movie with Anthony Hopkins flipping out after hitting a home run.

There you go. That's the movie. Good sports movie.

    Good article.

I think I actually read his autobiography when I was young after seeing the movie on TV.

There's also an interesting story about his name. I never knew his real name wasn't "Chuck." In the Wikipedia article it says that he was born Kevin Joseph Connors, but didn't like his first name. He tried out "Lefty" and "Stretch" before he settled on "Chuck." Connors played first base in baseball and would always say "Chuck it to me baby, chuck (the ball) it to me!" so made that his new name.
