We better do a good job figuring out which one is Blackledge and which one is Marino...... And don't forget there are only 2 Super Bowl wins out of that '83 group--and they didn't come until a decade and a half later..
Is that luck or inability to develop...are they bad ingredients or is the restaurant a shithole with a bad chef- guess it’s all perspective
The plan seems to be to select a QB with a top 3 pick and make him the face of the franchise for the next 10+ years. Will it work? We'll find out.
So explain what we do with three QB,s ? Two with gurenteed money not 4 days before the trade and the other a top 3 pick. Does your “artical” outline the plan there? Do you deactivate someone with gurenteed money every week? Do you deactivate the draft pick? To me that shows the flaw in the “plan” and that it in fact never was a “plan”.
There will be 3 active QB's every week, if a QB is selected in rd1. Can't stash a rd 1 guy on practice squad. McCown likely starts week 1, with Teddy as backup, unless Teddy is lights out in camp. If McCown sustains an injury, then the rookie will be the backup to Teddy. Plan has to be the rookie never sees the field this season. Petty and Hack are cut. 2019 will either be.. the guy we draft this year + Teddy.. or Teddy bolts to FA and we are left with just this new guy. McCown likely retires and becomes the Jets QB coach after this season. He builds a relationship with Teddy and the new guy.
This is probably the right move and what I think will happen. But why in the fuck would you activate three QB’s and now leave your coach a WR, CB, OL, LB, DL short? Again, leads me to believe that there really never was a plan to begin with after they lost on Kirk. MAC has been improvising and it’s evident
IMHO Mac has been a middling GM - perhaps a little worse than average, perhaps a little better. As for his entire QB moves this year, the best word that I can think of is "disjointed". As for plans, the captain of the Titanic (I believe his name was Smith) had a plan too .
Of course you're right, but we're just wasting our time and energy. Some of these guys don't get it and won't get it because they don't want to. They've deluded themselves into thinking that we can win a SB with a JAG QB as long as we've "built up the rest of the team." It's sad, but it is what it is.
Red, you know that they're the exception rather than the rule, and it was the last century when they won. The way the NFL game is now, it will probably be even rarer that it happens again.
No way has Mac been better than average. He inherited a horrible roster, no QB, a ton of cap space, and the #6 pick. Three years, two losing seasons, and no playoff appearances later we have a horrible roster, no QB, and ton of cap space, and the #6 pick. Now he made a bold move trading up for a QB. But it doesn't require any skill to give up 3 second rounders to move up 3 spots. The hard part is of course getting the pick right.
Question of the day: without our 2nd rounders, where are we getting O-linemen and receivers for our rookie QB?
That's pretty scary scenario. Can't remember a team trading 3 picks and a swap for a RB. Macc would be roasted and toasted if he doesn't get a young QB out of this. But Barkley would be a solid pick just can't see them selling it to the fan base. Especially after signing Crowell and Powell and McGuire still on the roster.
Yeah that drafting theory would have kept us right where we have been for the last 50 years. Yeah sure we might have a stellar offensive line but our current QB is a loser. We got first round talen along the OL and UDFA talent at QB. Bringing McCown back is the biggest issue I have with the Jets. I like the Johnson and Crowell signing. I think Bridgewater was solid. McCown garbage.
Does anyone see Nick Foles as a FQB? I simply answered his question, I'm hoping jets find said FQB and then surround him with talent, and a good oline, only way they will have sustained success.
