Which one of the 3 uber talented DEs we have would you then plug in at 0/1 technique? Would you have them draw straws?
If Mo stays then imo there's only one position for Williams to play and that's at NT, unless perhaps they rotate them depending upon the situation or opponent.
Lmfao what You once told me I was "better than this" when I made a bad argument, fucking shut up already. Williams and Wilk can move around techniques fluidly and Rich can play 3 different techniques, stop acting like a child. You're better than this.
Rotate, as it was Snacks only played on about 45% of snaps anyway. It's quite possible Snacks goes to a one down back, 1st down or obvious run plays because that's basically his only game. Key is the Jets run a 3-4 base, but not a straight 3-4 defense, at least not if they stick to past tendencies of the current coaching staff.
The only thing that bothers me about this is, if the they really do feel Mo is a goner then you HAVE TO trade him and get something for him NOW. Letting him play out the season is a waste if the end result is letting him walk away with no compensation after next season. I say trade him for a #1 in 2016 .
When the Giants beat the Patriots in the SB and also that other time when the Giants beat the Patriots in the Superbowl they used at least 3 or 4 DEs to "punch them in the face". Why can't we do that?
From your lips to GOD's ears about Rivers, my friend. A trade for Rivers was #1 on my wish list going in but, without Mariota , I just don't see SD letting him go.
To get what he's worth they probably need to sign him first I think otherwise people know he can just walk after this year anyway.
They were saying last night he is worth multiple 1s, I don't think the Jets will take a 2nd and a 3rd..remember John abraham?
but this is a different world now - rookies are cheap and vets are not - I doubt we can get much more than a 2nd rounder for Mo given the likely size of the contract. I like the pick as in its BPA but I would have preferred they go in anther direction and signed Mo long term as I like him (but that said, there just wasn't anyone at #6 I could feel great about once Mariota, Cooper and Fowler were all gone). anyway, its all pretty irrelevant really - no-one wins superbowls because they have a great DE, you need a good QB so until we sort that issue none of it is going to have much impact one way or another.
I'm not so sure. People would kill to have a 25 year old Wilkerson who is an all pro for a first. Especially a team with cap space. Much better than taking risk on a first round guy come from college who can bust. Just look at what people would give up for JJ watt or Houston or Andrew luck. There's no way anyone can guarantee we can replace someone with his caliber with even with a high first. I Wanted Beasley, but who knows what he'll do. My biggest issue here is we threw money around to Harris but not wilk. To all these free agent cornerbacks. If we get no compensation for Wilk in 2 years, we will look like fools
Have any of you guys heard of a 4-3 or a nickle package with a 4 man front? You gameplan using your talent...... jeeeezus, the whining here is ridiculous
It's possible but not necessarily. Williams on a rookie deal for 4 years Sheldon has 2 rookie deal years left. They could feasibly manage the cap and keep everyone. There's no question the jets could reload and get an awful lot back for mo. Everything has a price so if the price is right the jets should consider it. But I'd be hesitant to do it this year. I'd like to see Leonard actually play NFL football first. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd like the Jets to still sign Wilkerson to an extension and switch to a 4-3. Our DL is a massive strength, and our LBs are not. It makes sense.
