The league put that rule into place because of Warren Sapp's cheap shot on Chad Clifton years ago.

I doubt he gets suspended, but he should get a huge fine.

You don't watch Brackett closely. He's not going to remind you of Butkus but he does a pretty good job of covering and seems to be able to fight at the LOS pretty well for an undersized guy. I would take Brackett over Thornton anytime.

Heh. I'll spoon feed you some crow after Shonn Greene puts your boy into orbit.

I figured he was good in coverage due to his speed, but what you call his "decent for a small guy" engaging with the OL doesn't cut it at the NFL level. This is part of the reason your team has consistently struggled to stop the run over the years: inability to shed blocks at the LOS from your LB corps. Dungy lived and died by the Cover 2 and was going to run it success or fail.

No, but it wouldn't break my heart if he did get suspended.

PERFECT picture that PROVES brackett is WRONG...He is obviously leading with his head & when you play the video it CLEARLY shows brackett leaving his feet & launching himself into Amato. By NFL rule a suspendible offense for a recidivist.

    Who's that?
The guy with 2 rushing TD's this year?
Donald Brown has that many and he doesn't hardly even play.
    Fear is actually setting in....thanks.

    So was Harrison though.

I'm just saying, it's kind of bunk to change the rules at this point.

It's the job of the DT's to keep Brackett clean. He has done a very good job of shedding blockers or beating them to the hole. Watch closely Saturday night. He'll get at least one and maybe two tackles behind the LOS. Starting last year, the Colts stopped playing cover 2 exclusively. Caldwell wanted bigger DT's which he now has and he brought Coyer in to bring pressure on defense. The Colts blitzed more last season then they had done the previous five years combined.

BTW....What's Eli doing holding a hockey trophy?

He has only 2 TDs this season because we were keeping him fresh for the postseason, to run over the Colts for a full 60 minutes this time.

True, the DTs job is to occupy, but often times you find the 3-tech slicing up the field blowing up the pocket, with the NT gaining a double at best. A good MLB should be able to engage and shed a linemen if necessary, and we're discussing whether or not Brackett is a good MLB.

You must be happy they are slowly straying away after years of watching that Cover 2 shit, I LOATHED it when Herminator was our HC.

Yes, I will watch Brackett closely, but until proven otherwise I stand by my assessment. I realize his skill set has him thrive in coverage moreso than the run. If he is stout I will acknowledge it.

Well, our D finally has stepped up in that department the last few games. No doubt the are going to need to do it one more time to have a chance. Greene can cause some damage.

What does touchdowns have to do with Greene blowing Brackett up?

Not counting the very valid argument I could make about the Colts horrible rushing game, Greene has 766 rushing yards to Brown's 497. They're both backups but Greene is starting to get heavy touches late in the season. Like it or not, Greene is going to be fresh and he will bruise the undersized Colts backers and secondary on runs.

Greene in last year's playoff run:

    At Cincinatti: 21 carries 135 yards, 6.4 avg, 1 TD (39 yds)
At San Diego: 23 carries 128 yards, 5.6 avg, 1 TD (53 yds)
At Indianapolis: Hurt early, didn't finish the game. Before being taken out he had 10 carries for 41 yards.

As a rookie on an offense that made it blatantly obvious was going to run the ball, he put up some crazy numbers in a shared backfield. Discount who he is because of his TD numbers all you want, Greene is a wrecking ball and he will show up in the playoffs.

Fantasy football makes people think Greene sucks because the stats and style points weren't there.

P.S. Thomas Jones stats in those three playoff games for comparison:

    CIN 15 attempts 34 yds (2.3 avg)
    SD 14 attempts 41 yds (2.9 avg)
    IND 16 attempts 42 yds (2.6 avg)

It should be nothing more then a fine. Sometimes the powers that be dont realize how fast the game is played.

Yeah, it was that undersized Colts D that put the hurt on Greene and sent him to the sideline.

Everyone in Indy was excited after what they saw from Coyer. He hasn't blitzed as much this year, but he has had a knack for bringing it at key moments. I think he has held off some this year due to the third and fourth stringers playing in the D backfield.
