Most of us were saying they need to turn it around because you as Keith said today "You can't win a world series in April, but you can lose it." And they did. None of this is important though, there will be more bad streaks, and plenty more bitching throughout the year. It happens with every sports team ever, and we both know that.
He's looking much stronger this inning then he did last inning. He just K'd the side. He may go into the 7th.
what a sweet win. Picked up a game on Florida, too. Maine was good aside from a blip in the fifth. Reyes was not good with his throws. Ely, the Dodgers rookie, didn't look very good and doesn't know how to bunt. I went in just a tee shirt, which was not an especially inspired decision. Before I got there, it was fine, but it was cold and very windy there. They gave out cheap plastic water bottles in plastic bags, and the bags wound up strewn all over the field. The Mets kept sending out people to pick up the garbage. There weren't a lot of people there today. I know it's a weekday afternoon, but it was kinda pathetic, especially in the upper deck and the prime seats behind home plate. The Mets should try to at least get fans behind home plate. The section was over 75% vacant.
Francesa is trying to jinx the shit out of us "Da Frawg became a Prince" "Da Mets looks like a Juggahnawt"
Jeez, Yis, were you crazy? It actually wasn't that bad when the wind wasn't blowing, but it was incredibly unpleasant when it was, and my father and I were both dressed in a lot more than a tee shirt. Maine's performance was shockingly good (for him), which does show how low expectations have gotten for him. Wright continued to look better, and Davis is still hitting the ball (although he does need work on scoops at first base). Going to the new Mets Hall of Fame was great. I must say, however, that the highlight of the day was having my first Shackburger ever. They really are excellent hamburgers.
Brian Wilson just blew a 3-run lead in the ninth against the Phils, ruining Lincecum's start. How many jokes are there going to be about how he should have stuck to singing and songwriting?
Maine didn't have anything on his arms either. A guy in my row said during one of his at bats that he didn't swing (he took the first four pitches) because his arms were too cold. "Was he born in Alaska?" For some reason it was a lot colder and windier in the stadium than it was when I was leaving my house. The sun barely came out at all during the games. They had the lights on! Francesa was talking about the burgers today. He claimed they taste good because the bread is really good for some reason. I've never tried them, so I can't comment. Phillies just took the lead in the 10th.
Yes, I also noticed that he didn't have anything on his arms. Insane. The bread in the Shackburger was fine, but that had nothing to do with why it was a good burger - the beef was just really good. No big surprise that Francesa had no clue about it - just add it to the long list of things.
