Takahashi gets a very friendly call, and the Mets escape with the score still 3-3.

Wright with his 1000th career base hit to put the Mets ahead 4-3.

Davis is that Man! Good to see Wright come through for a change, hopefully this double header will be the start of him getting out of this slump!

I'm sorry, but Ike Davis is becoming one of my favourite players already. I know that he probably won't keep up this production, but this kid is awesome.

Dodgers look as bad as the Braves did in the field. 7-3 Mets.

Takahashi done for the night, and should get a win unless the bullpen implodes.

After pretty much a perfect 17 innings, Mets looking very sloppy here - 4 outs and counting.

Mets sweep doubleheader, win 6th in a row, 8-1 on the homestand.

And, it's early, but the Mets are now tied with the Phillies for 1st in the NL East.

I have to admit, I'm fairly shocked right now. I hope they keep it up. Never thought I'd say this 2 weeks ago, but this is a different team than last year. I think Perez gets one more chance to keep his spot in the rotation. That's it. Another one like tonight, designate him for assignment.
Wright needed that 2nd game in the worst way. I hope this isn't a tease.

If the Philly score holds, we're in 1st by ourselves. Did not see that coming.

The pitching is due for a breakdown. Just looking at the stats, no way they can keep it up.

Lead the league in walks AND LOB%. LOB% will normalize over the season, guys are going to score. And with so many BB that means home runs are going to be 2-3 run shots instead of solos. Doubles will turn into RBI doubles. Runs against is going to go waaay up.

If they manage to get the BB down, then it wont be so bad when LOB% falls back to the league norm.

Also the Mets are in the bottom of the majors in innings pitched by their starters and only the Nats and Pirates have more IP by their relievers.

The bullpen is getting too much work and it's going to crack.

We need a guy like Oswalt or Arroyo who can throw a lot of innings and go deep into games with a manageable ERA. A 5 innings and done band-aid like Pedro Martinez or Smoltz wont help this team at all.
