Just read on MetsBlog that if the Mets go 14-20 over the last 34 games, the Phillies have to go 21-13 just to tie us. Division over.
 david wells. gotta love that. braves down 4-1 to st louis in the 7th phillies hammering the padres, 14-2
Really? I think L-Millz was the idiot, as he clearly did not pick up his coach until it was too late. Mets had three hard hit balls and a walk, and get nothing.
tough to see from the angle they showed but it seemed to me like alomar didn't put up the stop sign until way late when milledge was halfway around 3rd. and even if milledge didn't pick him up what's the point of stopping him where he did? he was already committed to trying to score.
They just showed the replay - the stop sign was a little late, but was clearly before he hit third, and Milledge clearly didn't look up until he stepped on third. Once he looked up it was too late. Alomar didn't handle it very well, but Milledge has to pick up the coach when he is 25 feet before third, not when he rounds third.
i'm not sure if we saw the same replay. alomar was halfheartedly waving him home until milledge was 1/3 of the way down the line and alomar basically jumped in front of him and put on the stop sign.
By the way, this game is unwatchable. I can not listen to Joe Morgan and John Miller anymore. When did the Mets get Marlon Byrd??? Theses guys are joke, Ruben Gotay's an excellent fielder? Come on guys, get a clue.
Strange play - Maine hits Kent in the head with a pitch, and he just sort of stands there. I guess there's a reason many people have said that Kent has rocks in his head.
