The pressure on this organization to win a SB if they did just this would be unreal. And if they crashed and burned like the same old Jets, the whole organization would look like a bunch of low-lifes.
Do you want to see Peyton Manning in a Jets uniform next season or do you still have faith in Mark Sanchez
I dont see why a team should not entertain the notion of finding a franchise qb when they clearly dont have one. Honestly, Sanchez apologists are getting annoying. By pretending that Sanchez is a good qb and that he might get better doesn't make it so. The facts are simple. Sanchez is a major problem and whether this year or next, this team will need a qb. Whether you try to go up for Tannenhill or RG3 this year, sign Manning (if healthy), or wait until next year, the problem is not going away. And pretending that I am nuts by pointing it out just shows that you are in denial.
If it's a 100% Healthy Manning? Hell Yeah. But it's a Manning with a FUSED NECK after 3 Surgeries on it. So "Hell NO!".
Unless Manning signs for almost nothing (not gonna happen) I would rather have Mario Williams if we are going to spend the kind of money Manning will want.
Yeah, please more specific. Do we know if it is a healthy Manning or not? Do we know how much cap will be left after he signs? I would take a 100% healthy manning for about the vet minimim if that's an option. Just saw James Hasty's post above mine, and agree with him. If we want to make splash I would rather have Mario.
There is no way we can afford to cut Sanchez and sign Peyton, simply no way. Not to mention you just know he will be a broke down washed up bum for us.
This is insanity. 5 of 7 people would not take one of the top 5 qb's of all time over Mark Sanchez. And then Jet fans cry about never winning anything. Maybe its because fans accept crappy players.
He's 36, has a broken neck, hasn't played for going on two years, and will cost us what 1/5th of the roster when factoring in cutting Sanchez? Peyton was a heck of a QB, and if we could've signed him four years ago it's a no brainer, but now???? I'm just not sure he would do much for us.
If he's healthy and can pick right back up where he left off in 2010 and the Jets can fit him in comfortably under the salary cap while still addressing the ten other glaring needs they have on the roster, I say go for it.
I thought we already had tried this experiment with one of the top 5 QBs of all time? Remember Brett Favre?
....or We can see the ramifications that would most likely come from it. Peyton Manning is only one guy, he will not fix the holes elsewhere on this team. You have to build a team first and foremost. Look at all those crazy signings the Eagles had, how did that work out for them? Look at us even, we wasted so much time and energy on one player, and it really derailed our offseason because of it. You can't put a guy like Peyton Manning ahead of your long term goals. Sanchez has a lot of talent, I want to see him perform in a new system before declaring him a bust. I think he is the man for the job, he just has to refine his game. He is a clutch performer, and has proven it time and time again. I think we have the right guy already in house.
