It's time to start getting some talent on the offensive side of the ball specifically skill players. The past 3 first round picks have all been defensive players and it shows. During the game they mentioned how the Jets were one of only 3 or 4 teams w/o a Pro-bowler in any of the offensive skill positions. I would think that if my head coach is a "defensive genius", I wouldn't have to stock pile 1st rounders on the defensive side of the ball. I would think you would want to do the opposite since the defensive genius would be able to work with what he has and come up with schemes to keep us competitive.

Anyone who continues to put Eric Smith on the field with the starting defense needs to be fired.

That's not fair no one told Rex that HC is also responsible for the offense.

That's what worries me about Rex. Even the DEFENSE has gotten worse each of his four years, never mind all the nonsense about the offense or the ST's getting into the act this year.

Dude.. We could be doing way, way, way worse on defense. We are ranked 8th in overall D right now? We've been in the top 5 the first three years under, Rex.

So... It's not that bad considering our Dline has a ton of youth that are finally figuring out their identity. Our linebackers are old and slow, and we lost our top defender for the year. Not to shabby with all things considered.

The defense is far from the problem. They had some really bad games this year, but overall the defense has been very good.

^I would include this as an image but it's too big... not sure how to shrink it

I just wanted to point out that, in general, better teams have more consistent, long lasting coaching. Obviously this is a self-fulfilling prophecy since more wins leads to coaches not being fired, but this is just an interesting image to look at so I thought i'd include it.

And what do those better, more consistent teams generally have? Good QB play.

An old Antonio Gates cannot be covered by Eric Smith ! Why does this guy play any position other than special teams ? Keeping with this thread blow it up Tanny to bottom

It can if we finally get a OC that knew what he was doing, and have a GM that wasn't happy to slap band-aids all over the damn place, he was stuck with Shotty initially, and Healy bailed on him.

Our defense isn't too far off, we need some new blood at linebacker, and as we can see clearly from yesterday our oline needs to be the main focus in the draft, with just that alone we are a playoff team even with a game-manager at QB

I'd love Norv in here, bring in a vet to compete w/ Sanchez and get our receivers back healthy. Holmes, Edwards, hill, Kerley, keller, Cumberland is a nice group when healthy. As bad as we are we aren't far off from being a postseason team again.

    This.

Although I don't think the Jets bring back Keller because of him being banged up this season and because I think that deep down, even though he's Sanchez's favorite target, I don't think they feel Mark is the long term solution at QB and will probably let Dustin walk, unless they're able to get him back super cheap because of him being hurt this season.

And personally, I just hope the veteran isn't Vick since I still can't root for the guy.

It appears we are on the way to having him. If the team continues to crumble under Ryan like it has been, 1-15 is not far off

With that group you see a sudden improvement of Mark Sanchez (who I believe will be back next year)

Norv Turner would take one look at our QB depth chart and choose to retire instead.

The problem with any coach they bring in ala norv Turner is everyone will give up on them if it isn't turned around in one season. No amount of coaching can fix shit talent.

Money talks! Woody needs to write him a blank check if winning football games is what he's interested in.

It's really amazing how underrated Holmes has gotten among Jets fans. He's not a superstar by any means, and he's a tremendous douchebag, but he's easily the Jets' best playmaker on offense and I think that their results without him on the field speak for themselves.

I can't help but wonder what the fans who say we're better off without him have been seeing this season.

It also falls on WRECKS that he did not take out SUCKCHEZ soon enough. What was wrong with Schilens? The guy is tough, big and fast. He blocks well for a WR too. Gates showed promise and great speed. You sound like a miffed Suckchez hero worshipper!
