No, but I hope he does. The truth is that absolutely nothing will happen to meaningfully fix this team until Woody Johnson is personally embarrassed about being the owner. He never cares until his rich jerkoff friends and family are asking him why the team sucks so bad at his Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas party. You will see change as soon as you see fans wearing bags on their heads at games, billboards asking him to sell the team, and planes flying banners over the stadium criticizing him (Woody specifically).
As @dawinner127 had mentioned in another thread, they'll get a "Mulligan" because of the Rodgers injury. I agree.
I don’t think Saleh is the problem. He’s been handed a historically incompetent offense whose consistent failure has warn down a motivated defense that has provided the only sense of competitiveness on the team the last couple of years. problem is Douglas should get fired and the next GM is likely going to want his own coach so he’s likely gone too.
The sad part is that Rodgers is a flashy curtain , to hide the perpetual messy construction site. And the foreman (s), refuse to acknowledge how easily at 40 the curtain can be pulled back exposing the site. I don’t trust them to consider and thoroughly plan for this next year .
Woody the Woosy would give him a pass even if every single game till end is lost Thats why people should just not sit at MetLife till NFL impeaches the Johnsons If he gets fired who's his replacement ?? Same with fired JD ? rofl laughing Someone in sponsor land should just call Goodell
If Rodgers wants Sally fired? Sally gets fired. Whatever Rodgers wants, he gets and that includes all of his buddies from the Packers even if they suck dinodick.
Yeah it's an almost impossible situation as he's shit crammed right in the middle of it. If Douglas and Hackett are gone (and they should be) then I'm sure Saleh will be shown the door too. I wish he stayed on though because he's a good D mind.
Complete list of ways Robert Saleh has failed the NY Jets https://jetsxfactor.com/2023/11/25/ny-jets-hc-robert-saleh-failed/ He needs to go...as does JD.
I can't recall any GM who got fired who ever got a GM job back. It's probably happened, but I can't recall any, so I don't think that should prevent him from doing everything he can to save this job. And firing coaches is part of the GM's duty. Unlike Bowles, I do think Saleh could eventually be a decent HC, but he's in over his head right now. He clearly knows nothing about the offensive side of things, and is ill equipped to intervene when things are going wrong there. Maybe if they replaced Hackett with a truly good OC, maybe Saleh could stay and continue to be HC and over time learn what he needs to, but does anyone have the patience for that? And who is this "genius" OC that they could get to come here? So to circle back to your point, what should Douglas do? Stand pat? I don't think that burnishes his resume. He needs to take action, and not on the margins. It's too bad that much of the problems were of his own making, and others will pay the price, but that's life, especially in sports. And then of course, there's the issue of Rodgers...
I'm too lazy to look, but didn't Mike T get a GM job with the dolphins after getting canned by the Jets?
The rest of the season would have to be a complete disaster for Saleh to be gone. The best thing that could have happened to him was acquiring Rodgers.
Yes, he did. The statement about GM's not getting another job was round about accurate. It's not unheard of a GM getting another gig but it's not nearly as common as head coaching shots. GM's make their $$ on being able to evaluate talent, manage FA and the cap. The talent piece is the primary function. Doesn't matter what organization either. Well run or poorly run organizations still have to evaluate rookies and FA's. Location doesn't matter. If you can't identify talent at one place doesn't change when the location changes. The most successful GM's are the ones that can identify QB talent. That is the real trick and the most elusive. While it would appear, between JD and Saleh, they are quite capable of identifying defensive talent they are not so when it comes to the most important player on the field. Again, MOST GM's have this deficiency however what separates the GM's that hang around from what we've seen from JD is the ability to ADMIT the mistake and take immediate action to rectify the problem. JD KNEW what Wilson was in his first year. He also knew, going into his 2nd year, that the QB situation was more than likely going to be a problem. Instead of going out and finding a REAL veteran who could compete and push Wilson he chose to stand fast with Mike White who was NEVER a threat to take Wilson's job. JD should have brought in a number of known veterans to compete. I'm not even going to bother going down the list because it's well covered territory on these boards. Suffice it to say he left Saleh and the defense hanging out to dry again. All because he couldn't admit to himself he'd whiffed on Wilson. At the completion of the 2022 season he should have been bringing in any veteran he could find, as he should have done at the end of 2021. All he did was stake his entire career on an aging 39 year old QB and a backup he KNEW would shit the bed the minute the tough got going. Now we are in the exact same spot as last year, we've wasted another year of a talented defense and everyone knows, from Woody on down to the lowliest fan that they fully intend to wash, rinse, repeat this mess again in 2024.
Unless Saleh sends a pic of his dick to a news reporter he’s not being fired. We have rolled craps with all our assets on the table. Now they’re on credit and mortgaged all they have. They’re pushing their bets out on the table and rolling the dice again. Nothing will change. The only potential change is Zach might not be our #2 next year. If you want to amuse yourself I’d start scouting QB’s eligible for the 2025 draft.
No chance. Sackless Woody has already made up his mind that Rodger's going down gives everybody a pass for at least one more year. Notice I said, "at least one more year".
