 it was a disastrous game for the defense though. i think that is the root of all this panic. we all thought the defense was going to hold everyone to 10-17 points every week. the defense had a bad game and couldn't get it done when it counted. they need to take that punch and come out swinging in the next round.
Thank you for saving me the effort making the critical distinction which was clearly overlooked by the OP. I was very impressed with the dominating performance of Miami's O-Line and its backs. They played extremely well in conditions they were obviously better prepared to play under. I noticed numerous mistakes on our side of the ball defensively but a lack of effort was not one of them. Miami wore us down and out but Sanchez and our offense responded extremely well. In the meantime, revenge will be sweet as hell.
With a rookie head coach, a rookie QB starting his 5th professional game we currently have a winning record and are tied for first place in the division with the Pats. We just lost (barely) on the road to a division rival that last year won the division. Yep, sign me up for this...
And how many games had their QB started? Problem is theJets act like they already won the Super Bowl. And even if they beat the Bills by 40, I don't want to hear anyone on that team telling me that they're back and they've righted the ship.
The Saints were indeed a better team and at least we had a somewhat valid excuse for that loss - rookie QB who made mistakes that cost us that game. What's the excuse for last night's embarrassment? The defense was simply pathetic... end of story!
they aren't intelligent enough. its that simple. this fanbase is worse than most. They just can never get a grip.
on its last legs??????? dude what the fuck are you talking about...? miami is a young team, it's just getting started. new QB, new Oline, new Dline, new corners, new coaching staff. did you see last night's offense? expect for that to get better and better and the team becomes more gelled and fluid. every game has its reasons why it went one way or the other.......your fans are desensitized, they're just being realistic. you guys thought you had a baltimore type defense and you don't - live with it. on the other side of that coin, you have an excellent QB, a mexican one at that for all the racist fucks, and what appears to be an excellent acquisition in edwards. he had 3 days to practice and scored, essentially, twice...including a monster catch on the sideline against good coverage. this is the beginning of a yet another chapter to our rivalry...
Time to get a grip folks. We are 3-2 and in first place. We lost a game in the final seconds last night. The fins played a great game and our D did not. Its not the end of the world. Its not the end of the season. If somebody had told you in August that we'd be 3-2 and in first place after columbus day - every single one of you would have been psyched with that. So relax...we have a fun team to watch, they play hard and they are good. They are not the '72 dolphins. Okay??? Losing sucks. But Winners bounce back and don't quit and trash their own team.
I'd love to make a poll where people can vote whether they thought last night's loss was acceptable or not. It wasn't. That was a game we should have won, and if our defense was half as good as it had been all year, we would have. But there's no sense dwelling on it. No one thinks it's an acceptable loss, but dealing with it and moving on is what the players are doing, it's what the coaches are doing, and it's what fans should do. Whenever we beat somebody, there are always threads talking about the next game already. Now, after this type of loss, we can't do that? Every game is important, but it's still a long season. People thought the sky was falling when we lost to NE in week 2 last year. 2 months later, we beat them to take the division lead, and nobody remembered the week 2 debacle. And in the end, none of it ended up mattering because we choked down the stretch.
Keep it in perspective and give Miami credit. The D didnt have an answer for the Wildcat. Simple as that. Their play calling was excellent and that Dolphin O-line physically out performed us up front. That was an excellent performance for them in the trenches. The D was dominant for 3 games and played very well against Tennessee. Four excellent performances and one poor one. It happens. I will take that ratio every time. Buffalo and Oakland next. If either is a loss then you get concerned. Not yet. We will see these guys again pretty quickly and it's up to Ryan to make some adjustments now to take it away. Very much looking forward to the game against them at home.
This loss would be 10 times worse if the patriots had beat the broncos. At lest we're still in 1st place. I actually think the worst part of this loss is how we didn't see it coming. The "experts" picked the dolphins, and we all guffawed at their pick. I'll admit i did it too. We were proved dead wrong. We just have to shut them out in week 8.
Actually, i think the game we gave away WAS the Saints game. Last night our defense got their asses handed to em.
We lost vs. the Saints because of a rookie QB, we lost yesterday because of a rookie HC. We knew both of those would eventually come, it's good to get them over with now instead of when the games matter even more.
Exactly. Us beating the Pats at home was as bad for Pats fans as last night was for us. If we beat them in Foxboro, or Miami beats us at home, I'm sure both teams' fans will think it is worse. MB, I wish I shared your optimism about next time. I have seen the Jets fail to fix their run D for the last 4 seasons....at least the last 4..... I am not going to call the loss unacceptable though....losing to Buffalo at home or Tampa regardless of location wouldvbe FAR less acceptable.
