Fair enough. I like it being sung as well. I think that the pledge of allegiance should be recited in schools, and I think that all schools ought to teach civics, the moral code on which our laws are based, and seek to build good character as much as they seek to educate. All too often, I'm not sure our public schools do much of anything, often times because they are so overwhelmed with bureaucratic nonsense. You're right that many people in this country are spoiled and take their blessings for granted. You're not an old fool, but I think patriotism needs to be balanced with respect for all peoples regardless of race, creed, clan, nationality, and stop with the nonsense that we are superior to others. In times of crisis we do come together, but it's a shame that it takes something dire to happen to bring people together. The fact that players and people in the stands don't want to stand still and honor the SSB, is because they have little respect for anyone or anything, including themselves. It's sad and pathetic, but where our culture is.
