    Negatives:
Lacks the arm strength to challenge the deep secondary, as his long throws tend to flutter or hang up long enough for defenders to attack the ball in flight (see 2006 Brigham Young and Wake Forest contests and 2007 Massachusetts and Virginia Tech games)...Needs to do a better job of planting his feet to get more zip behind his long throws...Has inconsistent and adequate velocity when firing the ball deep...Weakest area of his game is exposed when he attempts to fire the deep ball, as the pass tends to lack accuracy...Runs too hot and cold when trying to air the ball out, as his long throws lack trajectory...Needs to improve timing on his deep throws, as he is very inconsistent hitting those targets coming out of cuts

Compares To: MATT SCHAUB-Houston...Before 2007, Ryan looked a lot like the Jets' Chad Pennington, only much more effective utilizing a short-to-intermediate area passing attack…lacks accuracy and arm strength when unleashing the long ball, as most of his interceptions were the result of him trying to attack the deep secondary. He is a cool field general with a great work ethic and shows some similarity to Rich Gannon (ex-Raiders, Chiefs) in his ability to be innovative on the field. He is not a good fit for a vertical passing attack, but for a team comfortable moving the chains with a mistake-free engineer at the helm, they could find a nice fit in Ryan during the draft's first day.

If you're trading the 6 to the Eagles you're getting a lot back in return. More than you'd get back from any other team because the Eagles are trading up for Mariota and you know it and they know it and they have no clue whether or not you're taking Mariota if they don't make the trade.

I'd think that the 20 + Foles + 2nd round this year and 1st round next year is the floor on that trade. That's where I'd end up if I was the Jets. I'd ask for Foles plus 3 1sts.

This all assuming the Jets don't evaluate Mariota as a star QB. If they do that they just take him.

I know it's not relevant but the hilarity of it all is Mariota's team pounded Winston and his team...and then a nobody 3rd string QB from one of the worst conferences in college football "technically" embarrassed both of them...and I mean embarrassed. Wish we didn't have to draft a QB this year. Ugghhhhh....

Mariota played the Ohio St defense not Cardale Jones. And the only group that got embarrassed was the Oregon defense by Ezekiel Elliot and the Ohio St o-line.

Would appear to me that Mariota got "handled" by the Ohio St. defense as well...

So will the Eagles conceivable sit on their hands and wait for Mariota to actually be drafted before pitching a trade? It would probably cost more to just go for the 1 than to wait and see if he drops a bit.

I think it wasn't much a fluke season as it was people having a full year to adjust and watch film on Chip Kellys offensive schemes and Foles....Foles just isn't that good period

Here is how I think we can help the Eagles get Mariota and help ourselves at the same time:

This is basically a QB switch where each team we work with is upgrading their QB.

The Redskins are picking one ahead of us and are the first team that seems to have a motive to trade down. I could see them making a trade with the Falcons who could move up to get one of the top pass rushers leaving Mariota available at # 6.

    Here is the trade:

    1. Philadelphia Eagles get the # 6 overall pick in the draft - select Marcus Mariota QB Oregon

    2. Cleveland Browns get the # 10 overall pick in the draft - select DaVante Paker WR
They also get the Eagles first round pick in 2016
They also get Sam Bradford QB from the St. Louis Rams

    3. St. Louis Rams get the # 12 overall pick in the draft - select La'el Collins OL LSU
They also get the Eagles second round pick this year
They also get Nick Foles QB from the Philadelphia Eagles

    4. J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets get the # 19 overall pick in the draft - select Marcus Peters CB Washington
They also get the # 20 overall pick in the draft - traded to Cowboys for pick 27 - select Erick Kendricks ILB UCLA
They also get the Rams second round pick this year
They also get the Eagles second round pick in 2016
They also get the Eagles fourth round pick this year

I have the first round laid out below (I also had us trading down with the Dallas Cowboys)

    1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3000 Jameis Winston QB, Florida State
    2. Tennessee Titans 2600 Randy Gregory DE/OLB, Nebraska
    3. Jacksonville Jaguars 2200 Leonard Williams DT, USC
    4. Oakland Raiders 1800 Amari Cooper WR, Alabama
    5. Atlanta Falcons 1700 Dante Fowler DE/OLB, Florida
    6. Philadelphia Eagles 1600 Marcus Mariota QB, Oregon
    7. Chicago Bears 1500 Shane Ray DE/OLB, Missouri
    8. Washington Redskins 1400 Danny Shelton DT, Washington
    9. New York Giants 1350 TJ Clemmings OL, Pittsburgh
    10. Cleveland Browns 1300 DaVante Parker WR, Louisville
    11. Minnesota Vikings 1250 Kevin White WR, West Virginia
    12. St. Louis Rams 1200 La'El Collins OL, LSU
    13. New Orleans Saints 1150 Trae Waynes CB, Michigan State
    14. Miami Dolphins 1100 Shaq Thompson LB, Washington
    15. San Francisco 1050 Brandon Scherff OT/G, Iowa
    16. Houston Texans 1000 Andreus Peat OT Stanford
    17. San Diego Chargers 950 Vic Beasley DE/OLB, Clemson
    18. Kansas City Chiefs 900 Cameron Irving OL, Florida State
    19. New York Jets 875 Marcus Peters CB, Washington
    20. Dallas Cowboys 850 Alvin Dupree DE, Kentucky
    21. Cincinnati Bengals 800 Kevin Johnson CB, Wake Forest
    22. Pittsburgh Steelers 780 Landon Collins S, Alabama
    23. Detroit Lions 760 Melvin Gordon RB, Wisconsin
    24. Arizona Cardinals 740 Markus Gordon DE/OLB, Missouri
    25. Carolina Panthers 720 Ereck Flowers OT, Miami FL
    26. Baltimore Ravens 700 Devin Funchess TE, Michigan
    27. New York Jets 680 Erick Kendricks LB, UCLA
    28. Denver Broncos 660 P.J. Williams CB, Florida State
    29. Indianapolis Colts 640 Ronald Darby CB, Florida State
    30. Green Bay Packers 620 Jaelen Strong WR, Arizona State
    31. New England Patriots 600 Malcolm Brown DT, Texas
    32. Seattle Seahawks 590 Jordan Phillips DT, Oklahoma
Rd 2-1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 580 Paul Dawson LB, TCU

It would cost more to go up to the 1 or 2 and get Mariota. It would cost 3 1's plus several other picks. The Eagles are at 20, not 6 where the Redskins were when they went up for RGIII. We're talking the 20 plus Foles plus 2016 #1 plus 2017 #1 plus more picks for them to move up to where they can guarantee getting Mariota.

The RGIII trade was the 6 plus the next 2 year's 1sts plus a 2nd round pick. The Eagles would have to trade more than that to move to 2 from 20.

I agree that the chances of the Jets pulling off a blockbuster trade down are lower due to the fact that the Eagles will start putting together offers at the first pick that it is feasible to do that and also that Kelly might want Mariota so much that he does the huge deal on the 1 or 2. The chance the Jets have to get a nice deal is if Mariota drops to the 6 and they don't evaluate him as a sure thing.

If the Jets traded the Mariota pick for a CB and an ILB there would be billboards up before the draft was over.

If Mariota is there on the 6 and you trade the pick you get multiple 1st round picks back for it. That's a no-brainer.

If either of the guys the Jets took on the 19 or the 20 busted this would be a 2 year regime before Woody went looking for people who understood the dynamics involved in this market.

Can you imagine the media reaction to Jets pass on highly touted QB prospect in a highly convoluted trade that was heavily slanted towards the defense?

    Good lord.

I've got a great trade idea thought now that I think about it. Jets trade the 6 pick to the Eagles for the 19, Nick Foles and Lane Johnson. That's what a franchise QB is worth in the NFL.

I agree 100% Foles to me is worth a fourth round pick imo. He should not even be in the conversation where our 1st pick is involved.

In addition to Marcus Peters and Erick Kendricks the Jets would be getting the Rams # 2 pick this year, the Cowboys # 2 pick this year (in exchange for our # 3 pick), the Eagles # 2 pick next year and the Eagles # 4 pick this year.

It might be possible for us to get more out of the trade but I wanted to be realistic and I think we make out pretty good.

    Awesome.

We HELP the Eagles get OUR franchise QB and we HELP two other trading partners upgrade THEIR QB position.

That's what McGag was hired for.

To help three OTHER teams fix the most important position in all of organized sports and neglect ours.

    Brilliant.

And there will be a big hot steamer sitting squarely on McCag's desk deposited by me.

If we actually did this I would love to see the lot of you crawling back and apologizing after this blows up and the Eagles go down in flames with your precious golden boy at QB.

This trade would allow us to fix our vastly over-rated defense in one off-season while picking up some players toward rebuilding our offense.

With our own first rounder and two second rounders next year I think we could find a decent QB.

And when the golden boy leads them to a SB one day I'd hope YOU come crawling back and apologizing.

While we look for that phantom QB that doesn't exist next year.

    Brilliant plan.
