Somebody already posted this - if we sign a guy now, his contract is guaranteed for the entire season. Even if we cut him when Cheatman comes back. If we sign a guy after the first game, we only have to pay him on a game-by-game basis. So it could save the franchise several hundred thousand dollars to just wait and see what happens after game 1. Mangini said Brad Smith is our emergency RB in case TJ and/or Leon get hurt in a game. So we're probably OK for at least one or two games with just 2 RB.
I knew about Kenton Keith's arrest record, I only brought it up because he's not somebody I would feel bad over setting on the bench, then cutting after a few weeks.
He seemed awful in the preseason to me. Far to slow to be an effective running back and not enough push to be a goal line guy. Not all the interested myself. As long as Jones and Washington stay healthy we really have no need to pick up another guy for the first 4 games.
