They scored 33 against Boise, on the blue turf. They scored 3 in 59 minutes against SMU, before adding a late TD (game was over in the third quarter). Good stat: The 12 opponents Boise State played other than Nevada scored an average of 16.416666... points per game. That puts the Boise State 13th in the country in scoring defense.
I remember watching the the Boise State/Nevada game - Boise went up 27-3 in a lot of time remaining in the second quarter. Chris Peterson took out most of Boise's defensive starters in the second half and refused to put them back in when Nevada started to make a comeback. That's a stat has a major flaw. What you said about mid-majors being weak actually helps this stat out here - teams like SJSU, New Mexico State, Utah State, Miami-OH, and Bowling Green helps this stat out big time. Fresno scored 30 or more points in every game but two in before their bowl game. They scored 34 on Boise...Ryan Mathews had a huge game.
Damian Williams shines in the bowl game...over 160 yards with 8 minutes left in the game. One William's best games of his career.
Clemson-Kentucky tonight. Not a good decision, IMO, to schedule it for 8:30. It's being played on the East Coast, in Tennessee. I would've scheduled kickoff for 7:30 or 7:45. That way it gets a head start on Sunday Night Football, and it ends at a more reasonable time. Bowl games take a long time (over three and a half hours). This one isn't going to end until after midnight.
quick strike 90 yard TD drive by Clemson to tie the game at 7. Spiller had a big play, fumbled, but it went out of bounds. Then after an 11 yard run by Ellington, Parker to Ford for 32. and that about ends the first quarter. About 16 seconds left.
kentucky with a goal line stand, stuffing Clemson three times. But Clemson goes for it on 4th and goal, and Harper drives his way in. 14-10 Clemson
http://collegesport.weebly.com/nippyheid-tv.html first turnover of the game just happened. Fumble by Kentucky
still no points. 16 minutes into the game. Texas A & M just had the first FG try, but it was a long one and got blocked.
...and UGA takes the kick back to the house. Wow. A&M's quarterback Jerrod Johnson will be a serious contender for 2010's top QB prospect if he enters the draft. I also really like Aggie hybrid defensive end Von Miller - he's the pass rusher I've seen since Terrell Suggs completely dominated at Arizona State. UGA's WR AJ Green has been labeled the next Randy Moss since his freshman year in high school. In my opinion, he's arguably the most physically gifted receiver in this decade...Green's on the same level as Andre Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald.
blocked punt! Georgia has it at the 2. Rambo came unblocked off the edge. Texas A&M went 3 and out after Georgia scored, and now Georgia has it on the 2. Caleb King takes it in. He fumbled on his way in, but Moore recovered. 13-7, XP coming.
