If the reason he no-showed to a game was that he wasn't happy with his depth chart status, he should be released immediately. But since it's Mehta saying this, hard to take it seriously.
Well when two of our top four CB's are injury prone to begin with (Milliner was battling injuries last year, was hurt coming out of college) the former shouldn't be any kind of a surprise. The latter is another story but Idzik's track record is getting sketchy between the Goodson fiasco and this. If you're going to bring in ***holes, at least make them ***holes that can play
Can't take this post seriously unless you relived the 2014 draft in an alternate universe somewhere. There's no way you can state this as fact.
What was so bad is when Flowers was released, we had a second chance to fix our CB situation. Idzik blew that too.
It's also bad that you clearly didn't do research on Brandon Flowers before implying he could have fixed our CB situation. Do that first, then come back and try again.
http://www.nfl.com/player/brandonflowers/754/profile Pro bowler available, we passed. Look at our CB's and then try again. Too bad you don't have a clue about our secondary woes.
You're basically admitting to me right now you have no idea how defense in the NFL works. Research systems and skillsets, then take another swing. Third time is a charm.
People can defend Idzik all they want, but he has made some terrible moves. Nothing wrong with saying that. I don't think he handled free agency well this year. Last year, the Jets were in cap hell, so i agree I mostly can't fault him for that. The CB situation is his fault. It was not good before the McDougle and Milliner injuries. Now? I don't know. Nobody wanted to sign Patterson.
"Some terrible moves" implies more than one bad move. Elaborate please. You can't spend money on mediocre CBs (see: DRC) and on top of it, preserve the cap space necessary to re-sign your own guys next year and still make a splash. Not to mention, if we weren't down 4 CBs, this wouldn't even be a topic of discussion.
Patterson didn't show because he was unhappy with the "pecking order" at CB. Cut this loser, right now!
I will generalize my response and I apologize up front for it, but I have never seen so many Monday morning QBs waxing eloquent about the state of the CB position and reliving the 2014 draft and free agency after having played exactly ZERO season games. Anyone that thinks that a rational human being can foresee 3 of the starting CB going down simultaneously with injuries before the season starts, plus our promising safety, is either visionary or more likely delusional. It must be coming from the same bunch that wanted nothing to do with drafting a CB in the early rounds, but would have significantly overpaid for RDC or kept his "burn me again" cousin Cro . Probably the same bunch that gagged at drafting Milliner the year before.. Top that with the idiocy that Idzik should have known about Patterson's major brain fart. Along the same lines BB should have known that his priced TE would translate into a killer, or Baltimore could have predicted Rice behavior.....on and on and on. This is nothing but after the fact, over reacting, second guessing at its best. It's easy coming up with observations after the problem presents itself. No question we are in a troublesome position, and is very easy to second guess the GM now. Of course had Decker gotten hurt, we will be bitching because we did not draft a WR with the first, and on and on with go. There isn't one team without similar challenges in the NFL, how you tackle them remains to be seen.
