When you think about Welker's uncharacteristic personal attack on Rex, Belichick's ill-advised decision to bench him for his comments, and Vince Wilfork's statement that a lot of the Patriots didn't like that decision, it becomes pretty clear that Jets did, indeed, get inside the Pats' heads with the trash talk. Difficult to say how that affected them on the field, but it's hard to imagine that anything positive came from Belichick creating unrest in the locker room immediately before an emotionally charged playoff game.
I forgot about that one. Those kinds of penalties just happen sometimes when players grab on to whatever is available. It wasn't a stupid play.
