Not a TD IMO. And the play was not irrelevant to the game. If overturned, it would have been third down. Jets' stout run defense had a chance to stuff a run. If that happened, Lions probably would have kicked a FG to make it a 2 score game for fear of getting stuffed liked the (hypothetical) play on 3d down.
Why is this still a thread,. Someone posted the rules in the 2nd page which explains why this discussion is irrelevant. It's basically the same as if he made a toe touch grab on a fade going out of bounds in the end zone.
Stafford knocked the pylon over with his right foot and his left foot was in bounds. TD. End of story. How about that Idzik?
Was going off what was posted here and assumed was an actual excerpt from the book. If you can refute this rule then by all means I'm here to listen, But it sounds like you are "absolutely wrong" otherwise.
You're going to have stubborn fans refuse to understand the call because they believe there is a conspiracy against the Jets by the refs, the league, Goodell and God. There was a 15 page thread about the correct call on the Time Out and folks STILL refused to understand the rule. _
regardless of the call Det would have scored so that doesn't annoy me but we have been on the short end of way too many calls so far this season. The Chi game was a joke. we absolutely need to play better but it's not like Chi was great that night, if those calls swing to us we win.
^ Need to change your avatar, or stop complaining about the refs. Bottom line is they were close games that could have swung either way with the refs calls, But really there are roughly 58 other mins of football that were played where we had opportunities to take the game and did not.
Never been and never will be a "blame the ref" fan. Calls go both ways, we just choose to ignore the ones that go in our favor and usually incorrectly interpret the ones that go against us. There have been bad calls since sports started and they tend to even out. I'm also not a conspiracy guy thinking the refs or the league "has it out for us". That's just me. For all my teams. _
but when will it even out this year? the game vs. Chi was determined as much by poor officiating as anything else.
I am not blaming the 1-3 record on bad calls, we still had chances to win in GB and vs. Chi but that Chi game especially it was dictated by poor officiating right to the last play. we are 1-3, we have earned that record but it would be nice to have a well officiated game both ways.
