Put more plainly: it was a pissing contest and Parcells wasn't going to lose. He didn't care that the wind was in his face and he pissed all over himself, he was not going to give into the demands of the Mannings, and he was too macho to pretend otherwise as you suggested he might've done. Nope. This was Bill Parcells, and no college player was going to dictate terms to him! As I said, Parcells earned his way into the HOF, but his time with the Jets wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
he was still a great coach but yeah too stubborn for his own good. belichick would have did what I said. made him the promise then maybe kept it
Yeah, he was old school, and to a fault. Wish he would have handled that different. Manning as jet would have made jets relevant 20 yrs. and in SB race. You are right, he made many draft and trade mistakes during his tenure here, but he hit jackpot in 2000. So I suppose regardless he changed the losing culture and made us relevant quickly, and for that I am grateful. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I didn't say that you did. And who cares how many players we got from 7 picks if only 1 or 2 can actually play?
How many SBs did he win? Do you not see that if he hadn't allowed his ego to get in the way the Jets might've been better?
Might have? You made over what might have happened? He didn't win any with the Jets and neither has anyone else. And we were better. In two years, we went 12-4.
