He also played like crap in that game but that was a team issue. he did make his bone headed plays like running out of bounds instead of throwing the ball away. He played to the level of the defense

We all admit that you are a joke, but that is besides the point. The information in the thread is serious, but blame going to Geno is not. I even say so in the original post. Some people have a sense of humor, some it goes over their heads. It is tough to pull off on the internet too so for those who don't get it, I don't blame them, but I went for it.

It a way of you Geno haters to bring him up. I'm sorry I don't see no point in this thread. Plus if we beat Oakland then a tiebreaker is not needed. No I didn't read the whole thread. To me it pointless.

    Geno might help the Jets

He can be part of some meaningful trade

    Smith can start anew elsewhere

It's kind of a silly question, though. That's kinda the point. We missed the playoffs because we lost two heartbreaking, coulda/woulda/shoulda games to an 8-8 team. We win one of those games, we make the playoffs as a wildcard. We win both, we are the number 1 seed. Bringing up Geno Smith as possibly being the reason is just silly and asking for derision, particularly on this board. The Oakland game was a no-show by the defense.

I think we missed the playoffs because we weren't a good enough team over the course of the season. The special teams unit was a heavy burden on the other two throughout the season. If they can get that up to par and keep the other two units as is we're a playoff team IMO.

Yes, I know. Everyone knows. Well, a smart fan does. I just thought it was ironic/funny that it came down to Oakland and that happened to be the one game Geno played in. And it is. People just can't take jokes. Like I said earlier, it is hard to tell when someone is joking or not on the internet, I get that. That is why some posters insult me or think I am dumb. They either don't get sarcasm or don't have any wit about them.

Maybe I am just trying to be philosophical about the loss, but I agree with you. Sure if the Jets had beaten Oakland, that would have meant they would be in the playoffs.

and maybe without Dalton the Bengals would have been an opponent the Jets had a very good chance to beat.

And it was very much to their credit how they won 5 straight.

    But...

I always harp on division records, and the Jets were 3-3. With two losses to Buffalo, who only won six other games all year. Not good, and not the performance of a playoff team. You gotta handle your division if you are for real.

Then there was that the Buffalo game was the biggest of the season, a virtual playoff game. And the Jets as a team fell on their collective faces.

I also don't want to focus on the quality of opponent/strength of schedule argument too much. You can only play the teams the NFL schedules you to play. But here there is some merit to this discussion. The only quality team the Jets beat all year was NE, and they were banged up and took the Jets to OT.

10-6 was quite an improvement, and something to build on. But as for this year, I can't say the Jets deserved to make the playoffs.

    No.

Jets went into the funk and went 1-4. Oakland game was obviously one of that funk games, but that's where Jets had to excel and rise above.

Poor Geno still getting the shit end of the stick.. But NO he didn't cost us the season. In fact he was really well behaved and just may be learning the brain aspects of being a pro QB.
