What do you think? Did he stay on course during his postgame presser?

While i agree the problem isnt him i don't think anything will slow down for him if we cant protect at least from one side of the Oline. Having Beachum back will help this, i as a fan just worry about him getting hit way too often early on.

I like the way Sam takes what the defense gives him & doesn't try to force throws. Would like to see him throw deep a few times, but I think Bates has put the deep passing game on the shelf for the pre season.

I thought Sam looked really good last night on a serious note. His surrounding clowns, not so much.

Lets not forget Sam has played VS. the other teams #1 defense the past two weeks & Teddy against backups. Teddy hasn't done much better if any, than Sam. Sam is playing at the same level as Teddy which means he should be starter day 1. The 2 TD drives against the Giants #1 defense sealed his fate as #1 for sure.

Yeah, that is a great point. He has not been overwhelmed with different defensive looks. He just adjusts and takes what he can get. Normally a rookie QB would not do that. And yeah, I agree, they have preached ball protection and not making mistakes. I think when the regular season starts they will be more aggressive with play calling.

Sanchez all 4 years had one of the best OLs in football. He consistently was one of the least hit and pressured QB in football. In the lines worst year, 2011, the line was 5th and 11th best in giving up hits and pressures.

Sanchez's problem was he was afraid to take hits and would either take a sack by falling down and giving up or he would panic and run into a sack. Sanchez's was last in the league sack percentage of all recorded QBs in 2011 taking sacks at an alarming rate of 24 percent of the times he was pressured.

Darnold certainly didn't look rattled last night despite the shaky OL protecting him. I have to believe that they're saving the more aggressive plays for week 1. I remain a believer in using the first pick next year on a LT assuming that one is available that wouldn't be a reach.

I think they should take throw away passes off the incompletion stats or make the stats look like 16 attempts/ 4 incomplete/ 4 throw away/ 8 complete/ 8 for 12= 75% completion. Of course it will help every QB's stats but it will give a truer stat line of the QB and his accuracy.

So you are saying it was sanchez's fault that he was sacked close to 90 times in his last two seasons here? Not Vlad and Wayne Hunters or the pathetic replacements for Moore those last two seasons? gtfoh Stop confusing his first two season with the last two.

Deteriorating OL play didn't help Sanchez, but he also didn't really take a step forward from his 2009 and 2010 seasons where he was an adequate game manager at best IMO. Part of it was the OL, having a talent drain at the WR position, but Sanchez can't get exonerated completely.

He was a game manager form the day he was drafted and every single year all the jets did was remove more and more talent from around him with out replacing it. Shocking but he got worse the more they removed.....

Didnt look nervous to me in any way, shape or form. Hes mobile, avoids hits and has a whole lot of pocket awareness for someone so young. The fears of amount of hits he'll take are overblown

Im not comparing the talent levels of darnold and sanchez im comparing the experience of a young QB with out protection and mediocre weapons around him. Its a recipe for disaster and will result in bad things for the guy under center.
