Isn't true that in the past year or two 22 players have been charged with DWI/DUI and have gone completely unpunished?

People need to get over it, good lord.

The media has nothing else to talk about, so they keep it going. they don't really care that he was drunk driving, but they sound like assholes if they don't take the high road. Im sure plenty of these media assholes drink and drive. You can bank on that.

Tanny & Rex are in this business for one reason... to win football games. If they don't, then their jobs are on the line. They don't get raises, contract extensions, etc for being moral police or going above and beyond what the other NFL teams do in terms of punishments for these situations. If they were to go and suspend him and lose, then they put their own jobs at risk. They are to get every advantage as they possibly can, so should every coach & GM in the league. Suspending a player that they don't have to suspend puts the team at a disadvantage.

While I agree that Braylon should be punished in the court of law, this nonsense about him being suspended from his job when there is no precedent of anyone suffering the same punishment for the same offense is ridiculous.

I remember him talking about Tony and sending his best wishes to him and his family in his difficult situation. So no he had no problem with it when his friend did the same thing.

I like DIckie V but this piling on from the Media has got to stop. Go talk about something that doesn't make you a hippocrit because talking out your ass just to pile on should be beneath you!

I don't think there is a soul on this planet that does not agree that what Braylon did was wrong. But the problem is that they are only making light of the Jet player. There were 2 fucking Miami players who did it in the offseason, where was the crying for them to miss time?

    The number sounds about right.

The real point is the NFL should step in and take action against DUI's and the Jets should not be held to a different standard than the rest of the league.

The Media is expecting the Jets to play games at a disavantage when no one else is expected to. That is not fair or realistic and they know it.

I get that bashing the Jets gets ratings but give me a break!

100% correct. Not condoning what he did but I believe we are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The media is having a field day trying to target us and I am impressed with the way the team is sticking together with the "us against the world" mentality. Hopefully they just get better and really piss off these hypocritical whiners! This from a person who was hit by a drunk who was so trashed he had passed out at the wheel and just a few years ago, my daughter was nearly killed by a guy that was too drunk to walk.

I heard this rant this morning too. I've been pretty critical of Edwards antics on and off the field, and I still don't believe the Jets should resign him (as of now, but that may change depending on how he handles himself the remainder of the season). But Vitale went off the deep end with this.

We have laws and due process in this country, and they need to be allowed to work. If Vitale got a DWI, ESPN wouldn't suspend him for a week immediately following the incident, and I see no reason that Edwards, or any other football player, should be held to a different standard. And when Edwards is convicted, then the league will handle his suspension.

I think this may contradict a post I made directly following is arrest, too, but after having thought about it for a while objectively, I see I was wrong.

Like I said yesterday they were all hoping the Jets would lose so theycould use Edwards as the scapegoat. As it turns out Edwards made two of the biggest plays of the game and we won because of his effort so it blew up in their face. Now they need to rip the Jets because of what they didn't do even though what they did was more then what any team in a similar situation has done. Ray Mauluga has two DUI's and didn't miss any playing time.

You know what's great, if we sucked nobody would care about it but obviously the rest of the sports world is scared that the Jets with their loudmouthed, confident coach and actress banging QB are a threat to the status quo and the media can't handle it.

I think a lot of the outrage here has to do with DUI SHOULD be an auto-suspension and not just for 1 game. I think the high profile nature of the Edwards case, which has been caused by all the other publicity surrounding the Jets this summer and fall, is giving people who think the situation is wrong right now a chance to vent.

I'm in that group too. I don't specifically think Edwards should be suspended for that particular infraction given what the standard is, but I do think that any player arrested for DUI should be sitting for a minimum of 4 games without pay. You can make a strong argument that a DUI should suspend a player for a season. Again this is not a Braylon specific thing it's an NFL wide thing.

I do think the Jets should have sat Braylon for at least the game based on a whole range of things involving him including the out of control aspect on the field, the involvement on the night that Stallworth killed somebody and the fact that he had his head up his ass getting pinched like that when the Jets were already under fire from the media.

I can't wait for the next DUI/DWI to come. I'm going to do my best to call everyone of these guys, and find out why they aren't covering the story.

It's over and done with. He'll get punished by the law, and by the league at some point. Shut the fuck up, and find something new to talk about. It's pretty sad that it's week 3 in the NFL (the BEST/BIGGEST sport following in the NATION), and they are still talking about a DUI from a week ago.

So many stories to cover, and this is what "sports guys" are talking about. How about:

-The Chiefs are 3-0?? Real deal?
    - Chargers are 1-2 and looking bad
    - Mike Vick - Story is beaten dead to me, but why not..
-3+ games this weekend went to the wire
    - The Giants blow balls
    - The Cowboys broke out of their shell

Etc etc etc...So many stories can be formed from this season already. Let's continue to talk about a DUI.

    Shut up.
