also should take into account that the baseball is different in the Japanese leagues, it'll take some time still for him to get used to the different movement on the ball. His control should get better not worse.
Also, two of his last three starts came against the best offense in baseball, and he won those. He didn't pitch all that well, but he still won. Last night he was awful, but that will happen. He's stated before that he's always been a slow starter, so I'm not concerned yet. Besides, Beckett is doing what people thought Matsuzaka would do, and Matsuzaka is doing what people thought Beckett would do. It's evening out for the time being.
The Rookie excuse? Come on, he was supposed to win 20 games and have an ERA lower than Bob Gibsons! Gyroball my ass...Their is nothing special about him, but neither is Kei Igawa...
yankees are just playin with his ass greenmachine, you know this man! you know yankees pummel cornball asspunks, when it counts, except for schilling, but he is alot older now.
Not sure which was a worst signing - Dice-K costing Boston over 100 million or Igawa costing the Yankees over 45 million. I guess considering Boston is going to get millions in ancillary income in Japan, you would have to say Igawa is the much worst signing.
Igawa was a far worse signing. Matsuzaka will settle down, Igawa just doesn't have any tools to work with. Dice-K's mechanics will be adjusted by the pitching coach soon, and he'll be just fine. Guidry can't teach Igawa squat. That's not to mention, at least Dice-K has a pen behind him. Couple that with the Sox lineup, and he'll get victories. The Yankees have the lineup to score runs in bunches, but as last night proved, they don't have the pen to survive poor starting pitching.
