Off what Devin did the college football playoffs. I expected something more than what he's shown this year. I think it's way too early to be think about cutting him. What I hope is that this off-season, he gets stronger and learn more about his craft. He has the physical gifts, but the Jets need more. As for this year,I just want him to get better every week. Since the Jets seem insistent in not using the tight end as receiver thi season, guys like Kerley and Smith are vital to take the pressure off Decker and Marshall.
Yeah, maybe Hill had those problems precisely BECAUSE he was on an organization that didn't develop young talent? You really think that Belichick wouldn't have been able to develop this guy into a threat, or Brady wouldn't have been able to make him look good? Maybe if we didn't have a total disaster at QB in Geno Smith or a total loser like Sanjay Lal showing him how to run routes, Hill would have been something in this league. Instead, he goes down as yet another example of the Jets failing to develop a WR.
Uh, it's called draft strategy. They bought extremely low and have obviously rode the gravy train over the last fifteen years. The Pats and Belichick are masters of generating ROI on their draft picks.
I like his response to people calling him a bust: “Not everybody is gonna come in and be Amari Cooper,” Smith said. “Not going to come in and be Odell Beckham. It takes stepping stones for some people. And that’s how I’m kind of approaching it. “I’m not getting too worried about what everybody has to say on the outside, because, at the end of the day, that really doesn’t matter to me,” Smith said.
Hill couldn't latch on to a panthers team that was desperately thin at wr this summer. He is a bust because he sucks. Not because of the jets
He's busting because he got rocked in the preseason and missed a lot of reps. Fitzgerald isn't a great match for him either,, he was under thrown on a couple of his early chances.. Give the kid another year
I don't see how experience has ANYTHING to do with that fumble/TD return he was solely responsible for. That is fundamental football on any level: High-School, College, OR the NFL.
How come Stephen Hill was on the practice squad with the Carolina Panthers? You make 0 fucking sense dude.
Your post is as legit as your gay ass username. This is so false it's not even funny. A QB can make a receiver look better than he is, but that will only go so far. A player has to have the hands and the talent to be productive in the NFL. Stephen Hill had terrible hands and just wasn't talented enough to continously play at a high level. He was released here and where has he been since? Is he still on this planet because I haven't heard a word about him? Stephen Hill was garbage and still is a steaming pile of shit. He's not garbage because of our coaching staff or our QBs. He's garbage because he's just that, garbage. And you prove to know nothing about this topic. You think Stephen Hills biggest problem was his route running? Had we not had a better coach showing him how to run routes he would have been better? He could have been the best route runner in the NFL. He couldn't catch a fuckin football. You can't teach a player to have hands.
Yeah my username is gay. That's why it's the most popular internet meme in the world at the moment and has thousands - even millions - of kids all over saying it every day in middle schools and high schools all over the country. What does Falco even mean anyways? At least people know- and respect- DeezNuts. Deez Nuts makes people laugh, it brings joy to people's lives. What has your username ever done? Anyways, you're completely wrong on Hill. The guy doesn't get drafted in the second round because he's terrible. This guy dominated at the combine and had tons of interest from other teams. You just can't accept that the Circus Jets couldn't develop a WR.
Damn lock it up, dude had HOF potential because he killed the combine! We should totally off-look collegiate production and just judge players by the combine.
Reason Mac drafted DSmith: downfield threat we never had,... not bad reasoning Come training camp Stupido Smith throws him a high pass and bingo the kid gets injuredon the rebound Fumbling the ball last game was on him but a rookie mistake As I have posted before, we have given brainy Smith 3 years to develop. D Smith gets another couple of Seasons before the Turk
^^ lmao Geno really gets blamed for EVVVVVVVVERYTHING my god. anyway, I don't think Devin Smith will pan out i don't see anything special about his game and he's not 3 steps faster than everyone anymore. I don't see him creating space between him and defenders at all. I hope he pans out n proves me wrong i just personally don't see it happening. Kerley is way better and Smith will probably spend more time hurt than playing.
Cut him now, then what? Roll with Kenbrell Thompkins? Bring back Salas or David Nelson? Clyde Gates? Antonio Brown should've been cut after posting 16 catches for 167 yds and 0 TDs his rookie season - That's about where Smith is likely to finish. Edelman did jack shit his first FOUR years in the league. He should've been cut. DeMaryius Thomas ... CUT. You guys declaring Devin Smith a bust 9 weeks into his rookie year need to STFU. He's got two veteran WRs in front of him taking most of the reps in practice and games. Do you want him taking Marshall's job? Deckers? He's not a slot WR, so he doesn't compete with Kerley for reps. We are still a run first team so the opportunities to go 5 wide aren't many. He was injured for all of TC and inactive the first two games. Blame the CS for putting him in to return that kick - He has very little return experience. You don't cut a top 40 draft pick halfway through his rookie season - He is still an asset with POTENTIAL. We have to have a 2-4 year view, and not base personnel decisions on a single special teams play. Cutting him now is a stupid, reactionary, and shortsighted strategy, but Jets fans demand stupid, reactionary, and shortsighted moves. It's why we haven't won shit for almost 50 years, because our owner(s) and revolving door FO listen to our demands for stupid, reactionary, and shortsighted moves. Sorry to go all Champ, but I fucking hate this idiocy.
You are clueless. Belichick had a chance to sign Hill, in fact, I think several chances, and passed. As badly as the Panthers needed WRs after Benjamin went down, I don't believe that they promoted Hill from the PS before he suffered the season-ending injury. He is hot garbage. He has stone hands. The Jets worked with him, tried to get him to high point the ball and he couldn't. He's a body catcher, because his hands are crap. He was crap in college at Georgia Tech. He was drafted because of his size, blocking ability, and because Tanny is an idiot and had no business ever being a GM in the NFL.
