He's better w/ the ball in his hands as well. People see Devin Smith and look at his ability to go vertical and instantly think Desean Jackson. I think Torrey Smith when I look at Devin Smith. Devin has better ball tracking skills though.
This has nothing to do with what you said or at least what you tried to say and I'm not a homer. Your struggles continue.
Only on this website can you get called a hater in one thread then the biggest homer in another. Again, you're just not good at this. What you said is dumb. Just own it. You weren't just pointing out 40 times, you were implying 40 times translate to the field.
I said 4.35 is elite speed. 4.42 is not. That's not dumb at all, it's a simple fact. The simple things are hard for you to grasp, that's ok, keep trying.
yeah i read the op and the first 5 or 6 posts to it and there was quite a bit of chatter about his route running, people saying it was poor and this and that. thats where my response came from. i cant say if he is a great route runner or not. just that if he is at this point a bad router runner, he is either lazy or he was not properly coached. both of which drive me crazy. so heres to hoping he is a great route runner.
sure you can be taught. however if you havent gotten down running good routes you either dont care or were just poorly coached. a bad attitude or poor work ethic will trump talent almost every day of the week.
In response to the original post I read the Trump Card article and watched some game tape on Smith. I couldn't sit through the commentary of the video. Gotta say I'm impressed with this kids ball tracking skills. He's got good hands and his route running is better than advertised. Decent speed. Stretches the field well has a chance to one day be a solid deep threat. Looks like he plays a bit faster than he ran at the combine. As to what I think about the current discussion about Smith not having elite speed. So what? obviously speed kills and plays a large roll in the equation. but the distance of a tenth of a second over 40 yards is only like 36" and although 4.42 may not be elite it is well within the range of a quality NFL wr. All the speed in the world don't mean squat if you can't run routes and catch. Other wise Jacoby Ford would be heading to the hall. Plenty of players in the 4.4 or slower range have excelled in the NFL Legends like Rice 4.71, M.Irvin 4.52, Marvin Harrison 4.49, Terrell Owens 4.45 And Other current guys like Boldin 4.71, Dez 4.52, Jordy Nelson 4.51, Antonio Brown 4.47, Aj Green 4.5. Now sure some of these guys are way bigger than 6' and other factors matter for success in the NFL. I'm just saying 4.42 is well with in the range of an NFL WR and faster than the NFL Average of 4.55 for the position.
