My two cents. Adam makes this team better, not just a little better but much better. Not to mention really help Wison develop his route running skills. Adam will be the best route runner of the group. Gibson will not see the field, and Williams will soon be there for three WR formations. If you are truly all in that is a no brainer but it is not nearly enough. We need to fix the root cause. Our limiting factor has been and will continue to be Hackett, closely followed by Saleh for his inability and lack of knowledge to overrule the many lame personnel selections to execute similar offensive plays. This front office has to have the balls to at least demote Hackett current play calling role and put someone in charge at game time that is smart enough to adjust on the fly the offensive game plan as the defense adjusts theirs. Let Hackett continue to develop the play book that suits AR and the WR corps but don’t let him run practices or call the plays on Sunday. We need discipline and accountability. Are we unable to see that we gave the game away, that we self-destructed due to piss poor execution, lack of discipline and stupid game plan calls? Talent my ass. We can't blame it on talent when we dont play the best talent on critical downs. This is far more about accountability, proper personnel formations and disciplined training than is a talent issue. That is the root cause we need to fix first, or the talent we have will continue to under achieve.
In this forum it makes zero difference, he will get bitch slapped if he gets him or if he doesn't. Nothing ever changes.
Yeah that's what happens when you have a bunch of people with differing opinions. Some people are able to deal with the reality of that.
Jets run simplistic schemes on both offense and defense that rely on having superior talent to the opposition. Devante Adams helps tip the talent advantage against any given opponent. If coaching was more creative we probably wouldn't need Adams.
I disagree. You don't get a guy like Adams to be a #2 receiver. He will be #1 for the simple reason that he and AR have worked together for so long. That leaves Wilson out in the cold. I doubt he will accept a demotion to #2. He will be asking to be traded. I reluctantly agree with Caporoso. If you bring a guy like a 40 y.o. AR on a short window for all the marbles, then why not go all the way. That means possibly having to depart with younger talent.
This isn’t the NFL from 1974 where you flank two receivers outside the numbers and you’ll be lucky to get one guy with 950 yards. There’s plenty of room in an offense for two good players. More quite frankly.
It's funny, I have seen a bunch made about Adams backing Pierce for HC, makes me wonder if he and Pierce shook on something like "You back me for HC and when the time is right I'll send you to the Jets." Far-fetched but I could see it happening between a vet player and an ex-player coach.
Nothing surprises me anymore...this efin team. As another poster stated demote hackett and get someone, anyone, who can 1) put together a good-comptentGP, 2) use the correct personnel groupings in the correct situation. Finally, JD needs to and not sure he will do it but... read this effiin HC the riot act...and tell him in no uncertain terms to hold players accountable or he fired....
I certainly wouldn’t like to lose Wilson but if it gets the deal done and the OL can buy Rogers more time it’s worth it. 1-2 year window with Rodgers. Surround him with guys he has chemistry with. Plug up the center of the DL and let’s go.
If, worst case scenario, GW demanded a trade then we still have a significant upgrade at #1 receiver only for the fact Davante knows where to be all the time. Lazard is the 2, Rodgers is comfortable with him for the same reason. Ask every QB in the league, if the WR is not consistently where the QB expects him to be then he’s not going to get the ball. Wilson will be in the slot, and quite frankly I could easily see him popping off and having a career year from there. He’ll be facing NB/LB/S on every play. They won’t be able to double him and if they go Nickel we can run right over them with Breece or Braelon. He will get a ton of breakaway passes and long TD’s. Now if only he’ll swallow his pride and be willing to thrive in a “lesser” role while learning from one of the greatest. We’ll see
Oak Island baby! It's down there somewhere. No really, *this* time and by trying *this* I'm sure we'll strike pay dirt. This whole Jets are gonna be different with Rodgers saga is starting to feel like Season 8 or so of that. Need to fire Hackett and get somebody else in that room who hopefully has a clue. Anything less is just rearranging the Titanic's deck chairs.
