A play that will live in infamy in the minds of all Packer fans, the Packers won that game, it should have been over, SF was out of time outs.

Only one team wins the SB, rather have a chance, go out in playoffs, than not get there at all.

Last year was a whole lot of fun, even if it ended badly, wonder if Jet fans would say that?? My guess, no, losing is no fun at all.

There will be bumps, but I think Jets have good shot at taking the Cheaters, and pretty boy Brady, down!!!

And the above statement says it all. Brett gave you only one losing season in sixteen years, while leading the packers to a SB win, numerous division championships and the best NFL overall team record for wins and losses since he started. You should really remember the old saying "You don't know what you had until it's gone" because You just got too used to winning and assumed every year should be a Super Bowl.

I wouldn't worry about being "one and done in the playoffs every single year". If I were you, I would just be happy for an occasional post season from now on. Back to being a normal team for you !!!

Hope you are still here in a few weeks to back up some of this uneducated garbage you spill if you are wrong because most odds makers down in Vegas have the Jets winning about the same amount of games this season as the packers and there has been "no talk" of being on the "cusp of challenging for a title" since Brett left.

    Please !!!

For those who have not seen this article yet, it's a must read on Brett's ending with the Pack, for those who are interested:

Favre can't win when it comes to office politics
    by Jason Whitlock:

He was overthrown in Green Bay because he tried to play nice, attempted to accommodate the very bosses who plotted his coup d'etat.

In February and early March, when Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy pressured Favre for a retirement decision by pretending the Packers couldn't move forward without knowing Favre's 2008 status a month before the draft, four months before training camp and five months before kickoff, that's when Brett should've played the Favre-being-Favre card.

"I'm Brett Favre. I've played quarterback in Green Bay for 16 years. I don't miss games. I'll announce my 2008 plans when I'm good and ready. I'll be in Mississippi hunting and fishing. Don't call me. I'll call you."

Rather than a tearful, forced goodbye in March, long before the emotions of a heartbreaking loss to the Giants had subsided, Favre should've told Packers management that he'd earned the right to be incredibly selfish and do what's right for Brett.

But coaches, with ample assistance from the media, specialize in brainwashing athletes that they should always do what's best for the team while the organization never considers what's best for the athlete.

So Brett, in a moment of weakness, bought the b.s. that the Packers couldn't win in September unless they knew what Brett was going to do in March. Yeah, Mike McCarthy's train left last winter and it can't slow down this summer to pick up Brett Favre, a three-time league MVP, the MVP runner-up last season.

But Jon Gruden, Lovie Smith, Brad Childress and Eric Mangini were all willing to back up their trains to take on Brett Favre's baggage. The Jets plan on letting Favre power their train deep into the playoffs this season.

Someone is lying, and it's not Brett Favre, a man so media-friendly and naively transparent that he poured his heart out to Greta Van Susteren, Chris Mortensen, Peter King, Ed Werder, Wendi Nix and Oprah Winfrey.

I'm joking about Oprah. But there's still time for him to sort this whole mess out on The Couch.

If it happens, I hope I'm invited. I get the feeling Brett still hasn't put it together how Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy ran him out of the franchise and state he owned for nearly two decades.

Thompson and McCarthy are superior at office politics. Following a 13-3 regular season and a run to the NFC Championship, they both quickly inked five-year contract extensions and decided it was the perfect time to play hardball with an iconic quarterback who spent too much time campaigning for Randy Moss rather than pointing the spotlight toward Thompson's and McCarthy's brilliance.

You've seen this on your job. It goes on in every workplace.

New bosses come in and they look for their opportunity to diminish anything that happened before they arrived and champion their hires.

Ted Thompson drafted Aaron Rodgers in 2005, and a year later while ignoring Favre's calls for Steve Mariucci, he hired McCarthy to lead the Packers.

Thompson desperately wants Rodgers to be the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers.

Thompson and McCarthy don't get credit for Brett Favre's success. And as long as Favre was in Green Bay, Thompson and McCarthy could never be viewed the way Bill Belichick and Scott Pioli or Bill Walsh and Eddie Debartolo are.

Brett Favre is going down in history by himself. Mike Holmgren and Ron Wolf will get mentions at Favre's Hall of Fame induction. Thompson and McCarthy want to write their own history, and they want to do it now while the Packers have on paper "the best young roster in the league."

So Aaron Rodgers can do no wrong in their eyes. His fragile body, weak resume and shoddy performance in a recent scrimmage can all be explained away. He's Thompson's first hire, the new employee with the freedom to do whatever the hell he wants.

I know you've seen this on your job.

Favre was completely outflanked politically inside Packers headquarters. Thompson has been laying the ground work for Favre's ouster for three years. Favre spends the offseason and every free moment bunkered in Mississippi away from the "office."

Thompson, McCarthy and team president Mark Murphy see each other and talk constantly in Green Bay. They can form a circle of jerks at anytime and tell each other how great they are. They've talked so much they really believe they're better off without Brett Favre, and they think Rodgers, with the right help, can do what Favre did a season ago.

Good luck with it. I hope it blows up in their faces.

Favre was far from perfect. But he gave everything he could to the organization for 16 straight years. He lost a battle of office politics because he tried to play the game nicely. He should've called Manny Ramirez for some advice. Manny knows how to be Manny, and being Manny got him exactly what he wanted.

I am so glad he is here now, J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS !!!

Not in the least my friend. Your organization has been class all the way and many of us our actually very happy Brett ended up a Jet. The man has been a class act throughout his career no matter what the occasional, blind, TT loving
troll will want to tell you. Brett's a Jet now and after he gives you 110 % and you see it for yourself, I would hope that you too, will defend him as a Jet !!!

    J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS !!!

In fact, most "experts" that I have seen are picking the Vikings :rofl2: to win the division.

If Favre was playing at Lambeau, think the Packers would be the favorite.

I say again, why is the best QB not on the field for the Packers??

Sad to say, I believe Whitlock's article close to the truth.

If Favre is so selfish, and it is all about him, why did he not stay in training camp, and force TT's hand?? He could have turned down the trade, and got his release. Manny being Manny gets results.

Two reasons, I think. One, he did not want to do that to the team, he knew what it would do to that locker room. Two, he knew TT's stooge, MM,
would sit him on the bench, then cut him at the last minute, to make sure he wouldn't be ready opening night, when he would come out on Lambeau field in purple.

If Favre is washed up, and AR is better, why did TT ask for 3 first round picks if the Jets traded him???

I feel it is personal, and not about the best football decision.

Wow, Packers fans making a 3 page thread arguing over Brett. I love it! You'll fit in great here.

Brett was always one of my favorite players. But when I actually had tears trying to fight their way out on a Monday night after his father died... I don't know that I've seen a more impressive, inspiring, emotional performance in any sport.

The Packers GM is a douche, no doubt. Favre is a Jet, hah! I have woken up more than once thinking I dreamed the whole thing, no shit.

Anyone who thinks Favre hasn't been messing with the Packers FO for years is in denial. Really has no bearing on his season with the Jets, but since he can't let it go... here is what his ex-coach had to say to Peter King.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/peter_king/09/01/mmqb/2.html

"Who is making up this schedule, anyway?'' Mike Holmgren asked me last week. He slid the Seahawks' slate of 2008 games across his desk to me and asked me to look at Seattle's last home game.

    Dec. 21, New York Jets, 1:05 p.m.

Seattle traveled to Green Bay for the last game of the 2005 season. After the game, Brett Favre boarded the Seattle plane and told Holmgren he was going to retire.

Seattle traveled to Green Bay for the wild-card playoff game after last season. Before the game, Favre sought out Holmgren before the game and hinted strongly that this was going to be his last month playing football.

Now the Jets will travel to Seattle at the end of the 2008 regular season, and if you're Holmgren, you just might take whatever Mr. Brett Favre tells you with a salt shaker.

So the guy is human and sometimes changes his mind about things. WOW

I never understood why, just because it's Brett Favre, the guy can't be human

Favre is guilty of indecision about retiring, no doubt about it.

Probably should be thrown out of the league for such a terrible crime, how dare he not be able to make such a life changing choice in time to suit the media and the fans.

When you are trying to run an organization, it would be nice if the face of the organization showed some consideration for it.

He let the team hang for a couple months after 2005 and 2006

Last year they went through the draft not knowing if he was coming back. This year they asked him if he was sure he wanted to retire in January and he said yes. McCarthy contacted him in March when they were making draft plans to ask if he was reconsidering coming back and he said no, he was staying retired. The team drafted a QB in the 2nd Round under this assumption.

Turn to June, and now Brett is deciding to come back. I don't blame him for coming back, but I don't blame the Packers for moving on.

He's a Jet now and he should just let it go and worry about the Jets. If he thinks he isn't at least partly to blame for this situation, then he's not too bright.

If you knew your facts you'd know that the Packers stated Favre's decision(s) had nothing to do with their drafting of a QB in the 2nd and 7th rounds. Also, I'd like a reliable source other than Thompson or his puppets that confirm the rumor about him going to Brett during March to bring him out of retirement.

And he's said more than once that he knows he's partly to blame for it - that he could've done things differently. He's only human after all and he realizes that. It's the media and the fans that won't let him be.

Look, I believe both sides (#4 and GB) could have handled the situation better. However, If Favre wants the story to die, then all he has to say is "I'm sorry, but I'm a Jet know and I'm not going to talk about the Green Bay Packers. It's behind us and my main concern is getting the NY Jets to the playoffs". I think he has said this in the past. The only problem is that you have to continue to say the same thing. If the press asks you the question 25 times, you answer it exactly the same way 25 times until they stop asking it.

Favre should learn how to speak to the media from Bill Bellicheat, how to say absolutely nothing in as few words as possible.

It really pi$$es me off that in this modern day of pro sports that there are athletes that are in the news for breaking laws or wanting more money. Yet the biggest thing that most of the anti-Favre people talk about is that he changed his mind. WTF,give it a rest people even though he is an ironman he is human.

Wow, you are still hung up on that (even linking to posts in other threads)? Do you have issues.

Since you went on to specifically name me in your post, I suppose I am forced to respond. OK then: I posted (the second reply on this thread) that I wish Favre could let this go and look forward, focusing on being a Jet, and that while I had a lot of reactions to these statements, I would not go into them here. Because those thoughts had nothing to do with the Jets. And then I did not post to this thread again, until now. It escapes me how that is inconsistent with what I said before: let's just stick to stuff relevant to the Jets here.

p.s. in case you didn't notice, this article DOES talk about the Jets. In fact it was written by local Jets beat writers. Once again, TRY to read what is actually written before you respond to it.

Oh god. Now I get it, I finally just looked at the location in your profile. You're really a ViQueen!

I'd already decided that it would be best for all if some of us put you on mental ignore -- instead of throwing some real facts back at you which would be easy to do if I really wanted to ;) -- but this ices it

    Ouch,

He will be back you know, not when Brett throws an overtime winning pass like he did in Denver or the shuffle pass against Seattle but we will hear about every pick from WT (probably enhanced photos describing in great details the intricate details of each and every one lol).

Post Note - Let's hope there are not too many !!!
