As someone else mentioned elsewhere, Friday at five or six o'clock is a good time to release news you don't want people to see. Baseball is in full swing, war goes on in Ukraine, airlines merge, Tony Dow is still dead and MegaMillions is over a billion dollars. Tonight might be the night.
So, it's game time! Here's a story that discusses the statement: After settlement efforts go nowhere, Deshaun Watson ruling is expected on Monday - ProFootballTalk (nbcsports.com) Speculation: It appears that the NFLPA, and maybe the Watson camp, believe the penalty, if any, ordered by the discipline officer will be within acceptable territory and are publicly supporting the process in hopes that the NFL will not appeal and let Judge Sue L. Robinson's decision lie rather than be altered in the appeals area which gives Goodell or his designee full control over penalties. It is also possible that a subtle warning to the league is written between the lines of Sunday's NFLPA statement signaling a lawsuit may follow any increase in a penalty directed by Robinson if the NFL appeals and increases the penalty in that unilateral appeals process. It will be quite interesting to see if the entire decision of the judge is made public, particularly as to how she has considered that section of the Personal Conduct Policy that states personnel involved in ownership and management will be held to a higher standard in light of the handling of the Kraft, Jones and Snyder case, to name a few.
Oops! Not only was he willing to forfeit $5,000,000 in fines, he also accepted an 11 game suspension. Rusty! Where are you?! Crow. Eat it
Special edition helmets are scratch and sniff. They call it a mix of feces and semen. Order yours today!
It's hard to believe that there's a franchise in the NFL with even stupider leadership than the Jets. And yet, the Browns traded away just about any chance for themselves to build a future for the next few seasons to pick up a guy they knew had this suspension coming!
God I hope his cap hit hurts the Browns next few years so badly that they lose some top talent cause they can't pay them.
You are out of your mind! The NFL publicly claimed they wanted a minumum one year to an indefinite suspension. Do you think Goodell just changed his mind this week and decided to give him a break? Or do you think it might be possible that he was told to be ready to have the league's dirty laundry hung across the entryway to the Federal courthouse. He didn't get a year, he got what he could live with. Where are all the guys stepping up to plea "mea culpa" who assured us he'd get at least a year? Were you one of them?
I never expected a full year suspension, you did. But then again you have only "a shred of intelligence." You probably still believe the player's union was expecting at least a year's suspension.
That's a very different topic, taken out of the context that anything Watson would do regarding a possible suspension would have anything to do with any specific opponent. One does not enter into a negotiated settlement and then cite a lack of due process. I'm pretty sure you understand the difference.
What? The reader's digest version is fans here displayed happiness that the Browns would be without Watson for our game against them. You then said, and I paraphrase, "Woah there everybody! There's a good chance Watson will play because he will most likely sue the NFL. He's not going to willingly forfeit all that money and Rusty Hardin is one shrewd attorney! Don't get too excited, happy Jets fans!" It's a clear as day when you read your original post as to what you meant (which I've quoted twice in the past 3 days.) So please stop with the bullshit.
Here's the context, which you choose to ignore, with the post I was responding to included, I have highlighted with color the essential elements. There is absolutely no need for you to change the meaning by paraphrasing when my own words speak for themselves; it only takes a bit of reading comprehension, and some integrity. Except Watson is probably not going to be willing to forfeit over five million bucks for those two games just so the Jets could win...
Some entrepreneurs outside of the Browns stadium in that shitbox city had interesting Watson themed t-shirt designs https://deadspin.com/jimmy-haslam-is-to-blame-for-the-vile-t-shirts-and-sign-1849446316
