I was actually thinking about the Patriots and Watson yesterday. Why else would you sign every free agent available UNLESS you are about to trade your entire 2021 and 2022 drafts for 1 player. I could see that happening. Nick Caserio is probably best friends with Belichick too. It would be a total Belichick thing to do, and as usual, the NFL would just allow it.

I know the Kraft/Watson massage parlor synergy joke is a fun, snarky way to continue our hatred of the Pats, but holy HELL would it suck if Watson went to New England. I don't care how poorly they've spent or how poorly they've drafted. That's a top 3-5 QB in his pre-prime going to the Patriots. I want no part of that as a tortured Jets fan.

Has anyone read the complaint entered yesterday? I haven't had time to look at this stuff but from what I heard on the radio, the latest allegation is that Watson coerced a chiropractor (young married female) to perform oral sex on him.

Subsequent to that the victim claims to have soiled herself in fear.

Not just some rub 'n tug person.

Is everyone off the Watson train? As soon as Lupica boarded last Sunday I knew it was off the rails. Now this awful stuff. I guess we now all hop on the Wilson express. At least until we find out he’s really only 6”1’ and his post operative shoulder is leaking oil.

I don't know what to believe about the allegations but train or no train Watson isn't getting traded before June at the earliest.

I’m probably more exaggerating for effect than simplifying, and that’s more aimed at the one accuser who I’m supposed to believe flew to see a millionaire pro athlete not expecting to get fucked.

If the other accusations are more credible than this position wouldn’t apply.

If these allegations are shown to be true he's dead to me, but until then I'm all-aboard, though obviously a bit leery.

Agreed, that goes without saying. I don't want a sexual abuser on my team. But the allegations are unproven and currently come off as pretty dodgy.

You can't have this position as the GM though so unfortunately I strongly believe Watson is off the Jets radar.

Well I'm not saying that Watson - or any of the other accused players - did nothing wrong, and maybe the Texans had nothing to do with this, but I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't behind it in some way. Why would they do this? TO make sure Watson stops his "Trade me" demand. Even if that pissed Watson off even more than he is, if he has no other real options because of his misdeeds, he'll just have to suck it up.

There's nothing to be all aboard on. Any hope you had that the Jets would trade for him is now utterly and completely gone.

This thread is no longer about whether the Jets will trade for Watson, it's now only about 6 lawsuits that will drag into the 2021 regular season.

If Douglas was considering trading for Watson, I think that ship has sailed. Even if Watson is innocent, either he's going to have to have his day in court, which will no doubt be dragged out for months, if not longer, or he settles, which will leave a cloud hanging over him. I don't see Douglas waiting for this to be resolved in court, or taking on a player with a huge contract at a position of critical importance who he has doubts about his character.

He's definitely not getting traded for 2021 draft picks at this point.

A suspension while this plays out is also a real possibility. He may get his wish and not have to play for Houston after all. The universe works in mysterious ways.

Can he be suspended for a civil suit? He's not being charged with anything, just a money thing.

If he settles it’s basically an admission of guilt right? Would he be suspended for that?

One of the suits claims a rape occurred.

Settling a lawsuit is not an admission of anything other than that you think the suit is more expensive or potentially more damaging in other ways than paying a settlement to make it go away.

Absolutely they can. They won't suspend him with ongoing proceedings most likely and let them play out, but they can suspend players even without proven guilt - or could prior to the new CBA which I'm assuming didn't change things.

I don't really think they'd get away with it especially now that the golden boy is in Florida.

It's easily provable if another team offered a better package and Watson OK'd that team and they sent him to New England anyway.
