If the worst case scenario happens, then yes obviously that will be a major setback and we will have a new HC in 2015. People will be angry and upset, but no Jets fan should be rooting for that scenario to happen. To this point we haven't seen anything that suggests that things will go in that direction. The team overcame a huge amount of adversity and had a ton of things working against it, and still went 8-8, while showing signs of being a good team towards the end of the season. I definitely get and understand why people are upset about not signing as many free agents as people would have wanted, but at the same time there's no reason to assume that the Jets are headed for failure. We don't really know how successful the draft will be, but with 12 picks and a supposedly historically deep draft, hopefully we'll do well. From 2009 to 2011, the Jets only had 13 draft picks in that entire 3 year period. So, I'm optimistic that the Jets will take a significant step forward this year, and hopefully make the playoffs.
......perhaps if he had not signed Revis BB might......he is not exactly the best FA signer out there.
Revis was a luxury for the Patriots. They could have filled that spot cheaper but they couldn't resist the opportunity to put one of the best corners in football back there. That's one of the byproducts of 9 years with no rings now. Dynasty football is pretty easy to figure out. A coach takes over a team and everything comes together and they win 2+ titles in a 5 or 6 year span. Then they may stay good for a long time after that but the titles mostly go away. Then another coach comes in and if they're very lucky they win another title or two, again in a short span of time. If you did a study on how dynasties have worked in the NFL I'm pretty sure this is what you would come up with. I can't think of a coach who has won two titles 9 years apart, even with different teams. Brady is not the only guy who is late career and on the clock now. Belichik is also.
These are both GREAT questions! Maybe not this year but next or 2016 we need to address both spots. Hell, why wait until this guys...I'm worried about Wilk et. al... I hope Idzik doesn't take the "snails" approach to resigning our own guys as well!
Better to address another OT a year too early as opposed to a year too late. I'm pretty sure the Jets would have extended Mo Wilk by now if a deal was there to be made. Odds are pretty good that both he and the Jets are in wait and see mode for next year to figure out where his value lies on the upper end of the scale. It's hard for Mo Wilk or the Jets to come to an agreement until the guy in Houston signs. That's going to set the top of the market and then it will be figuring out where Mo Wilk belongs below that.
Because reports I have read said he didn't reach out to Jackson or Revis. You need to read more before u talk
I think all the stuff we're hearing about DJax in the media is just a bunch of crap. The guys been in the league 6 yrs and while he's never been known to be a model citizen he's also never been that big a distraction before. It's obvious Chip Kelly doesn't mesh with this kid and is trying to justify cutting one of his best players by bad mouthing his reputation. I say sign this kid and start putting some playmakers on the field and stop the bullshit.
Yes, because all great coaches cut their best players because they don't mesh. That's an easy way to earn a bad reputation and coach your way out of the league. I agree, stop the bullshit. Like everyone clamoring to sign every overrated player in free agency.
Damien Woody on first take right now saying DeSean Jackson's best fit is with Jets. Of course Skip Bayless is tooting his horn about him going to New England.
I agree but people can't pick and choose which ones they think or hope is true, so it makes there argument sound better.
If you're referring to DJax as being one of those overrated players then you are a bit out of touch with reality.
Maybe us getting on Izdik is wrong. Maybe they really do want Jackson but don't want to let it be known.
Its a scary thought ,Centers and Left Tackles don't grow on trees ,especially pro bowl calibar level guys like Mangold.Mangold and Dbrick are a few injurys away from not performing at a high level anymore .The team starts with the oline first ,I'm not that worried about it yet but its def one of those things you have to watch down the road
That a dumb statement. EVERY player not matter the age is a few if not one injury away from not performing at a high level.
All reports I have read said he not in a gang. His high school coach and a teacher. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...gh-school-coach-dismisses-story-of-gang-ties/
