So this is an unfair question, because who knows why he did it, but: what do you need to have $200K in cash for in this easy plastic society we live in?

That's probably what made the Eagles nervous.

That said, I vividly remember keeping a lot of my assets in cash when I got my first job at 19. It wasn't that it was a big hassle to go to the bank and deposit the checks in those pre-automatic deposit days. It was that I wanted the fruits of my labor close to me and of course I used my disposable income to go downtown and drink at the clubs in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn on Friday night.

I was bringing home about $175 a week and I probably had close to $1000 in cash in my bedroom after 6 months of that.

Edit: just realized I didn't get a debit card until mid-80's. They just weren't that common back then and my income was not high enough or age old enough to get a credit card. So that's why I did that.

That being said I have seen a lot of stuff about him after a loss and post game comments. He was actually on thin ice with reid, and when they have him that contract they were already saying then that they didn't want to really give him that kinda money. He had a good year so they have him that contract.

When you have millions it's probably not that big a deal to have that kind of cash at home. There are still people who fear the banking system and keep a lot of on hand.

That would make sense. All they kept saying on the radio is why doesnt he have money in a bank? They're kinda right, and they're sure whoever did it knew him, because they knew where everything was. I don't believe there were any signs of forced entry.

I kind of like the idea of Bradwaysux snorting away his paycheck at Studio 54. How the mighty have fallen.

It's not a slam dunk that Jackson would come to the Jets just because we have Mike Vick. Or Marty. I read something that him and Marty had some problems between them. I also thought that Marty and Vick weren't tight either because Vick was benched in 2012. Jackson will come here only if it's his best offer. It could be the two guys don't even like each other, who knows.

true. his current deal is his only chance to earn the $10 million plus per year salary he is due on the current deal.

if he is going to restructure for less than that, he may as well get released and sign a deal with the team of his choice. but there is simply no benefit to restructure the deal, especially with the Jets who are unlikely to pony up much in a restructured deal.

Why would the Jets want Jackson to restructure if they trade for him?Are we assuming that DJ will hold out?

Jackson may want a new contract, but the Jets should be happy with the current deal.

Sure, the salary may be a little high, but it is very cap friendly after this year. A restructure could happen eventually, but essentially the Jets could have him for two years, pay him $20 million, and then cut him in the 3rd year and only take a $2 million cap hit.

Cant the Jets assume the last 3 high years of DeSean pretty easily. The problem would be extending him for huge numbers after that. The way a team should work is to have low end drafted talent and high priced players. When the high priced players expire pay the drafted players and draft new young players. Rinse and repeat.

Don't see why his numbers would be a problem. Im just going to pretend our team had some awesome master plan.

Was more like Court Street in Brooklyn and I thank my lucky stars that the one thing I avoided like the plague in the 70's and early 80's was blow. I could never figure out why people would spend that much money on a quick high that just made them want more in half an hour again.

Anyone think we may be waiting to see how the compensatory picks situation plays out? Maybe Idzik will be more willing to part with a 3rd if we are going to be getting an extra 5th (even though it will feel like a 6th).

They could keep him for 1 year pay his salary and release without a cap hit, same if they keep him for 2 and released, no cap hit beyond the base salary paid. There is no $2M cap hit.

And this is exactly my problem with this trade. DR and DJ trades are the same in sense of their uselessness. Neither would put a team over the top in its first year.

It's not an issue of restructuring immediately, because it is a very favorable contract for a one year test-drive. but you don't want to give up a 3rd rounder for a one year test; a 4th or 5th is better in that situation.

that being said, there is little incentive for him to restructure the deal. whatever they were to give him it is very likely he could get that on the market, and with the team of his choice. no reason to give up the $10 million he will make next year.
