hahaha....what a loser. Its my thread, im the author, im responsible for what i wrote starting it, People like reading my posts, when did you ever start a thread that brung in high volume of traffic? Or have gotten high replies? None. Play your position n00b, your messing with a heavyweight, you do not want to get K.O.ed.
Cellar-door, why dont you post all of jeters post season numbers not just 4 years worth. And post everyone else who people claim is arguable in the same topic. You would find jeter is much better than all, that writer is just basing it on jeter and did not compare to anyother player. Because he knows jeter is the best clutch hitter so far in history. And like i mentioned in the prior post, if jeter's numbers arent that good, then everybody else's is extremely horrible.
Based on what, some moneyball calculation? If you can show me a shortstop that makes plays in the hole (not A-Rod's hole ) better than Jeter I'd like to see him. Anyway, back to Jeter's greatness: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-Mv8IeJ61I&search=Derek Jeter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgfvG32xTa0&search=Derek Jeter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcyNqCN7OGA&search=Derek Jeter
You have 1800 post and 1795 of them are bullshit. I have a feeling your really going to have a good nights sleep today becuase you started a good thread, and quite frankly its SAD.
For king henry Ask and you receive meet Khalil Greene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzGnI5JEfW0&search=khalil green
Jeter has no range, none every player in the league has highlight reel plays, jeter's problem isn't that he can't field the ball hit to him, it is that he doesn't get to anywhere near the number of Groundballs he should. Also to 28Rog, as I mentioned in my post, the reason years before 1999 aren't used its that data isn;t available. As to other people must be worse, I'm sure some are, however many are much better, Ortiz actually performs better C&L than regularly, Matsui recently has been a very good close and late player, Edit also clutch players- garrett Anderson,
The Point is there is no evidence that Jeter has ever actually been clutch, he hits well in the playoffs, but doesn't in the situations regualr season or playoffs where he would most need to in order to be clutch. if the game is close and it's late in the game jeter is a below average hitter. matsui, sheffield, williams, all these guys on his own team are much better clutch hitters, he simply got this reputation in the media and it has spiraled out of control, just like the idea that he is anything but a below averag fielder
No indication? WTF... I give you one indication.. Against the arizona diamondbacks, MR.NOVEMBER ring a bell?
Hmmm... against the Diamondbacks... Clutch situation... Yeah, people are going to remember whatever Jeter did over the blown save by Rivera...
Those were all beautiful defensive plays but only 2 or so really showed off great range. You keep saying that it's a fact that Jeter has no range, but really if you ask just about anybody who watches Jeter they'll give you a different answer. That's one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever heard. Not even the rabid anti-Jeter Mets fans on this site are going to back you up on that one.
yes he had a great homerun in game 4, and he was positively attrocious for the series, 0-6 in late and close situations. This is the series his rep is built on, but in reality he had one great dramatic homerun, and underperformed the rest of the series
I give you another one, that has nothing to do with hitting. The infamous cutoff throw, to get out giambi. Who in the hell would of done that? Noone.
Can't we all just agree on that he's a very good player, great leader, and a proven winner, or is that too much?
Metfans why did billy wagner enter the game on enter the sandman? Thats mariano's song, wagner cant hold mariano's jockstrap.
