Brook man, I know the jets have sucked ass for a long time, I’ve been there. But you’ve got to get your mind out of poverty and think like a rich man. Don’t be short sighted. It’s not about making the playoffs or even being relevant, it’s about winning the Super Bowl. The only way you do that is with a franchise qb, and you know this. Don’t grab short term satisfaction by giving up the entire goal. The jets have a really nice, young, talented core to build around and it’s never been more imperative to find a franchise qb right now while these guys are on rookie deals. Don’t waste it
The fact that you're going so far out of your way to convince us Derek Carr is not the answer makes me think DC is exactly what we need. You're a Bills fan so lets drop the "we" when talking about the Jets shall we?
I don't think 32nd overall defense over his career and 26th best running game constitutes supporting him with everything. How many teams with 32nd best defense and 26h running game win a lot? If anything he overachieved.
Yes. He's been on some fantastic teams. Please. Carr has been stuck in the same division with the Chiefs. He's 0-1 in playoff games. Allen doesn't have a winning playoff record either and was pretty bad this last go around. You would think you guys have Patrick Mahomes. Enough already. The fact that you are here yammering on how Carr is no good and the Jets are fucked if they sign him tells me all I need to know about how you really feel. I pray they get him so we can kick the shit jht of your team twice next year.
I want Carr over Rodgers. I don’t want to be wondering if our QB is going to play next year every year until he finally retires. Carr is good enough to make us relevant again.
I hear you. Carr by himself won't make Jets contender like Rodgers but dude I am sick and tired of being emotionally invested and not be in the Playoffs for 12 years. I first want relevancy. Winning a Championship is the ultimate goal but did you see this picture?\
Yeah, I get it. It’s just, the jets haven’t had this many good young players in a very, very long time. Would be a shame to waste that on some retread veteran, that’s all. But trust me, I get the eagerness to be in the playoffs again.
Derek Carr gives us 2 things. A QB without giving up future assets. A stop gap while we find the long term solution through the draft. Our young roster needs to learn to win and we need not to mortgage the future. Carr will help do both. Stop reading into his stats and watch tape. The kid is a gamer and his team never supported him with a proper defense they could have won way more games. Plus look at his coaching tree and changes its nuts.
Is anyone expecting a Carr signing this weekend? Maybe, but this could also be a lot of smoke: (1) the Jets using Carr's visit to force Rodgers to shit or get off the pot; or (2) Carr using the Jets' interest to force the Saints to sweeten the pot; or (3) both (1) and (2). When this is all over, I hope someone will tell us what was really going on. Sometimes, this behind-the-scenes stuff is as interesting as what happens on the field. And now a serious question: what would you do if you walked into a restaurant and saw Saleh and Carr sitting at a table?
Gotta update that for the Dolphins, Giants, Jaguars, Chargers, Vikings, and Seahawks. Now the only teams with 5+ year playoff droughts are the Broncos, Lions, Falcons, Panthers, and of course the Jets.
Or (4) a free agency visit with a team he could very well sign with but first he wants to hear what the other teams have to say. I’d be more surprised if he signed this weekend, but I think we’re in good position to make an impression on him. We’d be the best team he ever played for and it’s not even close
I think the Jets are a serious landing spot, if he goes elsewhere it doesn't mean we were used for anything.
I bet he does not come cheap . With Washington, Miami, Carolina, Seahawks, Tampa all teams that just need a qb to compete Carr is looking at 3 yrs 120 million 100 guan. Between him and Rodgers neither choice is great Rodgers will cost more draft capital but is a much better qb. However the age of Rodgers is a huge red flag and like Brady Rodgers is setting up a post NFL career.. This is why I am not JD
Washington and Carolina aren’t nearly as good as us, Seattle will stick with Geno most likely, and Tampa’s in as bad shape cap-wise as New Orleans. Miami isn’t bringing in a quarterback of Carr’s caliber as long as they have Tua
This. Carr is going to want to be paid like a top 10 QB and unfortunately he isn't one. The perfect "stop gap" is Rodgers for 2 years, draft a QB in the mid rounds this year and next year if need be, hold onto Zach for atleast this year and see if he shows signs of improvement, if he does then trade or keep him and let him and the new QB learn for a couple of years then fight it out for the job.
